Walter "Buster" Odos Hughes Jr., 84, of Batson, Texas, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Christus Dubuis of Beaumont surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Hughes was born on March 6, 1935, in Dayton, Texas to the late Jesse "Paw Speed" Speed and Evie "Dottie" Edgar Speed. A long time resident of Batson, Texas, his life was devoted to caring for his loved ones. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Buster is preceded in death by his parents; Jesse and Dottie Speed, and brother; George Mitchell Hughes.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife; Billie Hughes, sons; Larry Hughes and wife Phyllis of Devers, and Doug Hughes of Raywood, brother; Bud Speed, sister; Norma Hickman and husband Lloyd, and Linda Pack and husband Dean; grandchildren, Doug Hughes and wife Barbara, Jamie Rogers, Keisha Maxey, Randy Maxey, Brittany Hughes, Kellie Smith, and Kyle Smith; numerous great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends.

A service of remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 06, 2020, at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas with Rev. Bill Campbell officiating. A gathering of Mr. Hughes' family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 5, 2020, between 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson.
