Tommy Jerry Smith, 81, of Sour Lake, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013. He was a retired Baptist minister. He pastored numerous churches in Southeast Texas and Louisiana. Tommy never met a stranger. He was known to many as 'Paw'. He enjoyed family barbeques and rodeos. He loved to sit under his carport drinking coffee, watching his neighbors drive by and waving to them. Everyone who knew him, loved him. He will be missed by many. He was a loving husband, Daddy, Paw, and Paw Paw.

Tommy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary E. Smith. Their greatest blessing in life was their family, which they both enjoyed spending time with.

Tommy is survived by his children, Tommy Smith Jr. and wife Barbara of Sour Lake, Pattie Oliver and husband John of Port Neches, Cindy Wilson and husband Bobby of Kountze, Kathy Smith and husband Gerald of Beaumont and Susan Smith of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Chad Wilson, Clint Wilson, Ryan Lambeth, Kamryn Smith, Michael Oliver, Sheri Oliver-Ryan, Anna Oliver, Keli Oliver, Jason Smith, Brandon Smith and Cody Smith.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Friday July 26, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday July 26, 2013 at Rosedale Cemetery in Sour Lake, officiated by Reverend Butch Perkins.

He was so loving,so wise.He loved his Lord and remained a pastor up until the end.I think of the song,We'll work till Jesus comes.Bro. Tommy was pastoring,working until the master came to receive him.Y'all were so lucky you had him all those years.He was a blessing.God bless your precious family,ease your pain.What a wonderful reunion you will have one day.
