Thomas "Sanka" Melvin Ramos

Thomas "Sanka" Melvin Ramos, 88, of Raywood, TX passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021, at his residence with his family by his side. Mr. Ramos was born November 23, 1932, to the late Allen Ramos Sr. and Malvina Louve in Houston, TX. He loved training horses, BBQing, horse races and was a jockey. He also enjoyed gardening and loved cooking wild game. Mr. Ramos was a construction foreman for Valverda Inc. in Crosby, TX. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Ramos is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Allen Ramos Jr and Joseph Ramos Sr.; sister, Harriet St. Julien; and grandchildren, Ellis Robertson and Kamalah Alfred.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Mearllay Pappilion Ramos; sons, Thomas Mervin Ramos of Raywood, TX and Kerry Ramos Sr. and wife Lisa of Houston, TX; Joseph Trahan and wife Donetta of Missouri City; daughters, Tonia Ramos of Raywood, TX, Monique White of Raywood, Tx, Sonja Lavine and husband Marcus of Raywood, TX; sister, Kay Francis McGowen of Houston, TX; sister in law, Margaret Sawyer of Baytown, TX; grandchildren, Kesha, Kwame, Randy, Roland, Danielle, Gabrielle, Kerry Jr., Kameron, Kyndell, and Jeremy; great-great-grandchildren, Kierra, MacKayla, Dana, Myja, Haylee, Kade, Micah, Kylee, and Brody; and a host of loving family and friends.

A Rosary will be held Friday, May 28, 2021, at 10:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raywood, TX with Father Andrew Toyinbo, MSP officiating. Rite of Committal will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Honoring Mr. Ramos as pallbearers will be Kenneth Alfred, Everardo Venetiz Salas, Shad Chenier, Anthony Eaglin, Harry Guillory, Paul Ramos, and Joseph Walker Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Keshe Chenier, Kwame Robinson, Roland Lavine, Danielle Lavine, Gabrielle Lavine, Jeremy Ramos, Kerry Ramos Jr., Kyndall Ramos, and Kameron Ramos.
