Thomas Justin Marion Harwell

1988 ∼ 2024

Thomas Justin Marion Harwell

Thomas Justin Marion Harwell, known fondly as “TJ,” passed away on September 12, 2024, leaving behind a tapestry of memories woven with love, laughter, and the unmistakable spirit of adventure.

TJ was a valued employee with Setpoint Integrated Solutions for many years.  He was a very dedicated employee and worked hard providing for his family whom he loved dearly. His work ethics and character will be deeply missed.

Born on April 13, 1988, in Galveston, Texas, TJ was a giant of a man with a heart as big as his beloved four-wheeler, where he often reveled in the joy of mudding and raising hell. He was a true adventurer at heart, someone who found solace in the simple pleasures of life—swimming at the sandbars, immersing himself in nature with friends and family by his side, and embracing the thrill of hunting, particularly those cherished moments spent with his wife while watching the Alabama game in the deer stand. Their shared tradition of watching sunsets on the river painted countless idyllic evenings in their lives, filled with laughter and a deep connection to each other and the beauty around them.

TJ, though never one for crowds or fanfare, had an extraordinary gift for fostering relationships. He was never a fan of people in the conventional sense, yet he never met a stranger. His unwavering dedication to others defined him; he was a man of integrity who poured his heart and soul into his family. With over 17 years of experience working on valves, he epitomized hard work and tenacity, laboring tirelessly to provide for those he loved without ever accepting help for himself.

His culinary prowess, especially evident in his smokehouse creations, offered a delicious backdrop for gatherings. Smoking brisket with a cold beer or whiskey in hand was just another way he expressed his warmth to family and friends. TJ approached life with a fierce devotion that was palpable, embodying the role of a devoted husband, father, son, grandson, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love etched in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving and adoring wife, Patricia Harwell; his cherished sons, Wyatt and Hunter; his beautiful daughters, Kaylee, Kennedy, Paisley, and Lilian; his devoted mother, Alicia Vela Alba; his loving grandmother, Mary Scroggins; his brother, Michael Alba; and his sister, Jessica Harwell and her husband Thomas Miles. He held a special place in the hearts of his niece, Ava, and his nephews, Oliver and Sullivan, who will carry his memory forward.

Although his father, Glen Wesley Harwell, Jr., and his beloved grandparents—Melvin Scroggins, and Modesto and Maria Alba—have preceded him in death, the love they instilled within him and the bonds they forged together remain indelibly marked on the fabric of his family.

As we gather to celebrate the life of TJ on September 28, 2024 beginning at 1:00 pm until the cows come home, we will remember him as the biggest Teddy Bear you could ever meet, whose spirit will forever embrace us like the warmest of hugs. In our hearts, he will remain—a guiding light, a protector, and a beloved soul whose laughter will echo in our memories for years to come.

Condolences

There are way too many memories of TJ to just pick one. I know of one I think about a lot and always get a good laugh was trying to help teach TJ to catch speckled trout while several of us were on a long TA. TH being a big man and grew up bass fishing that every time he went to set the hook it would yank the fishing pole so hard it would rip the jaw right off the fish LOL. He was a great man but an even better Husband and Father. TPup will truly be missed!
