Terry David Wilson

1944 ∼ 2024

Terry David Wilson (WolfJaw), 79 of Tarkington, Texas died peacefully on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in The Woodlands, Texas with his family by his side. He was born in Sour Lake, Texas on October 23, 1944, to the late Frank (Red) Edmond Wilson and Frances Perew Wilson. After graduating from Hardin-Jefferson High School, Terry held various jobs from roughnecking in the oil fields to construction work with Brown & Root until he found his true calling in the Pipeline Welding Trade. He had been raised in a Welding Family Business where his father had established a well-respected oil field reputation. However, Terry specialized in Pipeline Welding where he also became a renown welder. He also shared his skill and knowledge with many upcoming welders, and many consider him a mentor but above all else a friend. Terry never met a stranger. Terry’s life was not just about work as he had a fun-loving personality and as a young man spent time riding bareback horses, where he achieved a Champion Title in 1966 in Broken Bow Oklahoma. As he “matured” he turned to raising cattle. Along with Rita he developed a love for the “Ole Humped Cows” Grey Brahmans. He took pride in the herd he grew, by hand raising and giving each one a special name like snuff dipper or milk face. You could always find him on the tractor or piddling in the yard. He is what you call a TRUE and Faithful Cowboys fan. You could always find him yelling at the TV when they were playing. If there was one thing anyone knew about Wilson it was his once in a lifetime love for Rita Gail. In the last few years his biggest joy was watching his great grand babies grow. In ole Wilson fashion “tell ‘em I said SOMETHING.” He is preceded in death by parents, Frank E. Wilson and Margaret Frances Wilson; and daughter, Terryn Dee Strahan. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Rita Gail Wilson; children, Summer and Russell Vickery, Jacky and Michelle Winters, and Cody and Kasi Bryant; sister, Elaine Lusk and husband Frank; grandchildren, Jaci Boles, Gavin Boles, Shane Boles, Hayden Vickery, Kade Vickery, Sarah Vickery,Lexi Bryant, Logan Bryant, Dillon Bryant, Kade Bryant, Cody Starkie, Cole Winters, Blake Strahan, Cody Strahan and Austin Strahan; great-grandkids, Lennox, McKall, Axtyn, Ransom, Cove, Tripp, and Lyla; nieces and nephews, Rhonda Bourland and Gary Lusk; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Ryan Lusk, Melissa Lusk, Jessica Bourland, and Daniel Bourland. Serving the family as pallbearers are Gavin Boles, Shane Boles, Mike Morgan, Jimmy Douglas, Shelton Vaughn, and Jacky Winters. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Jackson, Gary Lusk, Randy Bourland, Russell Vickery, Danny Ray Broadwater, Howard Fregia, and David Deaton. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Faith and Family Funeral Services, Batson, Texas. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2024, officiated by Pastor Tony Thornton at First Baptist Church, Sour Lake, Texas.
