Sonja Rene Baldridge

1969 ∼ 2020

Sonja Rene Baldridge, 51 of Liberty, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at her residence. Mrs. Baldridge was born on June 13, 1969, to Harvey Owens and Brenda Skinner in Grinnell, Iowa. She was an escrow officer for Tarver Abstract Title Company in Liberty. Sonja had a heart of gold and was a faithful friend to all. She never met a stranger and her smile left a lasting memory with all who knew her. She was always doing the right thing and never once took or asked for credit. Sonja's daily routine was making sure her parents were always taking care of whole heartily. She had a deep love for her family and especially her grandkids who called her Nana. Nana and her grandkids sure did like playing pranks and jokes on the love of her life Daniel who they call Pawpaw. Sonja enjoyed taking motorcycles rides with Daniel and enjoying life while eating crawfish. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her but, her legacy will continue on through her family.

Those left to cherish Sonja memory are her loving husband of 32 years, Daniel Baldridge of Liberty, Texas; parents, Harvey and Brenda Owens of Lavon, Texas; sons, Jeremy Baldridge and wife Jennifer of Liberty, Texas, Josh Baldridge of Nevada, Texas; brother, Justin Owens of Rusk, Texas; grandchildren, Tara, Kaslea, Hunter, Addisen; her doggie, Loretta; many loving family members and a host of friends.

Sonja, you were such a sweet + dear cousin!! I have quite the best memories of you from visits we had growing up. You had such a sweet, infectious smile & laugh!! The last memory I have of you is from our wedding two years ago and I'm so deeply grateful that you were able to be there that day. Mom and I especially are going to miss you so very much! You were such a joy to be around and the world is going to be a little less bright without you. Miss ya tons + as Granny used to say, "Love ya bunches!" Xoxo

Sonya, Daniel & the boys have been our neighbors for many years. They have always been available for us at any given time. We are devastated. Sonya was always so helpful if we needed a notary or help with real estate issues. We had many talks as moms about our children. A very caring loving person. We will miss her deeply.

To Our Beautiful, Precious Daughter, Although a day will never go by that our hearts won't ache for you, our peace comes in knowing you are resting in the loving and everlasting arms of your Lord. We will always long to be with you again, and until then, we know we have been blessed to have had this short time with you and patiently wait to see our beautiful daughter once again. The deeper our grief, the deeper our love. No truer words were ever spoken. You were our Angel here on earth and now you are our Angel in heaven. We love and miss you, Sweetheart.

November 20, 2020 Sonja Rene Owens Baldridge This angel was born on Friday the 13th of June, 1969. The Lord decided it was time to take her home this last week. She may have been born on Friday the 13th, but she was always our lucky charm. She was always full of sunshine, smiles, jokes. This family will always remember that beautiful smile, laugh, love, and her life of giving, caring nature, how she kept in touch with family and friends close and far away. Even though she lived 4 to 5 hours away, she was always close. Her new friends that she has acquired since the 90’s in SouthEast Texas are amazing. (But I learned that first hand, when my husband and I lived in Bevil Oaks. SETX people come together to help each other, more so than any other place I have ever known.) Thank you to all these people that, are so caring and thoughtful. This year has been a challenge so far for everyone. But this is the greatest challenge of all, for this portion of the family, having to say goodbye without being able to say goodbye to my oldest niece, one of the daughters I never birthed. I so wish we could all be there. To give everyone a big hug, remember all the good times, and go through the process of grieving together. Her Father (my brother) and her Mother are by far the most devastated. Well, besides Daniel, Jeremy, Josh, Jen, and all the grands. I know where her heart was and I am looking forward to seeing that big beautiful smile and laugh, whenever the Good Lord decides it is my time to leave this earth. God Bless and Keep you all in his loving hands. Annona Owens-Hall (Aunt Noni and Uncle Ronnie)

Sonja I will always have a special place in my heart for you. You were my little adopted sister everyday on the bus going to school. You had a contagious smile and attitude that I never forgot. I still have the letters you wrote to me when I left for the Army and treasure them more and more all the time. Please continue to smile on all of us you left behind.

I never met anyone who would so willingly carry the weight of others upon her shoulders just to ease their burden. I would brag on Sonja saying that if I had a dozen of her I could take over the title industry in Texas. She would laugh and reply that I could not handle a dozen of her as I could barely handle the one. In her time with us she made a lasting and loving impression. The world is a bit less bright with the glow of Sonja gone from it. - Guy R. Jackson, Chambers County Abstract
