Randy Ray Copeland

1950 ∼ 2025

Randy Ray Copeland

Randy Ray Copeland passed away on January 2, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family. Born on December 19, 1950, in Beaumont, Texas, Randy was a man whose life was shaped by his deep affection for those closest to him.

Randy spent many years as a dedicated Maintenance worker at Walmart, where his strong work ethic and resourcefulness earned him the respect of both colleagues and friends. His keen skills as an excellent mechanic were matched only by his reputation as a protector, a role he embraced wholeheartedly for his daughters. To them, he was their Superman, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.

Family was central to Randy's life. He cherished moments spent with his daughters, Gina Copeland and Amber Styron, and her husband Shannon Lee, each day marking an opportunity to create more memories. As a proud grandfather to Shalyric Ford, Lucille Styron, and Shannon Denise Styron, and a doting great-grandfather to Sayge Ford and Betty Raylynn Ford, he relished every moment he could share with the younger generations. They were the light of his life, and his devotion to them knew no bounds.

Randy’s love extended beyond just individual family members; it encompassed his entire family unit. He is survived by his brothers, Gerald Wayne Copeland and his wife Mary, and Billy Bob Copeland and his wife Loree; his sister, Linda Owens; as well as his sister-in-law, Susan Copeland. Each of these relationships was filled with laughter, encouragement, and unwavering support.

In addition to his family ties, Randy was a man of passion and spirit. He found joy in riding motorcycles alongside his late wife of 54 years, a cherished activity that held countless memories of adventure and love. His decision to sell his motorcycle for her surgery exemplifies his selflessness, as he always put his loved ones’ needs before his own.

Randy's life was also marked by his independence and a continual drive to keep moving, whether through work or play. He was always there for anyone in need, a testament to his caring nature and big heart. He leaves behind a world that is richer for having known him, but also more somber in his absence.

Randy is preceded in death by his wife Betty Lucille Copeland, parents, Jesse Muriel Copeland, and Helen Evaughan Schillings, as well as his beloved grandson, Shakobe DeBlanc. Their warmth and kindness undoubtedly laid the foundation for the extraordinary man Randy became.

As we remember Randy Ray Copeland, we celebrate a life well-lived, a protector in every sense of the word, and a true family man. His spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will be cherished forever by those he loved so dearly.

My condolences to the Copeland family. I remember Randy as being quiet and sweet. I hadn't seen him in a number of years, but used to visit with him at the post office or would see him riding his motorcycle down the local roads. He will be missed by all of us old timers in Sour Lake.
