We regretfully announce the passing of a truly remarkable man, Mordie Loyd Marcontell, age 75, of Thicket. Mordie passed suddenly on the evening of March 13th, 2024. He filled every room he entered with his kind smile, contagious laughter, and love for the lord. He treasured quiet mornings with his beloved wife, spending time laughing with his loved ones, and singing gospel music with his family. It is a blessing and a privilege to know and love him. He will be deeply missed by his family, many loved ones, and cherished friends.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at Hall Cemetery, 2285 Old Whiteoak Rd, in Thicket on Monday March 18th at 2 PM.

When Mordie Loyd and I were in the Thicket Elimentary School, we would wrestle out back of the school yard. Loyd would climb on top of me and pin me to the ground! He was 3 times my size, and the only way I could get loose from him was to reach up and tickle him. He would sure enough roll over and giggle while I jumped up and run free. I then laughed at him for laughing so hard.. Those were the days. It didn't take much for us to have fun.

He made us a part of the Marcontel family. He was always glad to see you and shared a genuine love of Jesus. He was always Jesus with skin on. We weren’t ready for Uncle Bubba to go but his tasks on earth was done and he was welcomed to Heaven as a good and faithful servant. Praying for family and friends.

Not only my cousin but we were in the same class for 12 years and then at Lamar together. He had such a wonderful laugh and everyone loved him. We will miss his beautiful voice. Wonderful person.
