Mary Lillian Jordan

1936 ∼ 2026

Mary Lillian Floyd Jordan, 89, of Silsbee, Texas passed away on January 2nd, 2026. She was born in Beaumont, Texas on January 4th, 1936. She grew up in Batson as the baby and only daughter of Ira and Ruth Floyd. After many years of dedicated service, she retired from Gulf States Utilities (later Entergy). She married the love of her life, Doug Jordan in 1972. Together, they spent over 30 wonderful years by each other's side until Doug passed away in 2007.

Mary was a loyal follower of Christ, having been a member of the First Baptist Church of Silsbee for decades. She dearly loved spending time with the multiple dog and cat companions she had over the years. Mary was the epitome of a strong and stylish southern lady. She will be remembered fondly for her shiny Cadillac, her beautiful outfits, the elegant bun she kept her hair in, her fierce independence and her beautiful blue eyes. She will also be remembered for her famous banana pudding that was quickly devoured at family meals.

She is preceded in death by her husband Miles Daniel "Doug" Jordan, her parents Ira and Ruth Floyd; her three brothers Ira Floyd Jr., Rub Floyd, and Johnie "Bill" Floyd; and nephew Larry Floyd. She is also preceded in death by her siblings-in-law, Billie Floyd, Zelma Bertram, Lola Jennusa, Gladys Rogers, Gene Jordan and Jack Jordan.

She is survived by her step-son Dan (Karen) Jordan and his family; sister-in-law Claudie Floyd; nephews John (Darla) Floyd, David Floyd, Gary (Danette) Floyd, Ronnie Floyd, and niece Donna (Kent) Robicheaux. Also left to cherish her memory are countless friends and relatives who are grateful to have known her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the First Baptist Church of Silsbee or to the National Kidney Foundation.

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Mary. It is hard for me to think that all the homes where our families lived are now someone else's. I was just talking about our family at Christmas (or any holiday)and how I missed the big family get togethers/meals and how everyone enjoyed being with each other. I am blessed with the best memories. Love to the family.

Aunt Mary will be sorely missed. I'll always remember her kindness, dry wit, love of Cadillacs (inspired by Uncle Doug, I think) and love for her pets. Sadly, she's the last of the extended Jordan clan (5 households!) that lived for years within two blocks of one another. Mary was a big part of all that family and she and Doug were very happy together, enjoying a long, full life.

My dear family, I am so sorry to hear of Mary Lillian's passing. She did so much for me when I was growing up, from helping with my hair, shopping for that special dress and many other things I'm sure the Floyd boys also were taught, like me, don't rattle the teaspoon against the glass while stirring your tea. Manners were important to her, as were many other life lessons. She was named after my mother, Lillian. I will miss her.

Ms Mary treated people with love and made us feel right at home, since the first time I was in her presence. Full of optimism and laughter, pillar of strength, truly, a beautiful soul. An Era of great example has departed; I will miss you, Ms Jordan, thank you for loving me.

Mary was a wonderful friend and neighbor. She was always generous, taking food during a neighbor’s illness or death. She loved her independence and wanted to go as long as she could. She was always passing by in her Cadillac. We all loved her and will surely miss her!

Mary is remembered for organizing our neighborhood watch program and Christmas get togethers the first Saturday in December where everyone brought their favorite Christmas desert. We shared and sang Christmas carols.
