To the family, so sorry for your loss, Mom (Pat Freeman) always thought so much of your Mom. I was just going through this to add something to a friend of my and saw this. I think of the times way back when we were little kids and went to visit Dad & your Dad when they work way off, I also remember when the guys bought anniv cakes (because their anniv was on the same day) and my Dad had stuck it in the oven & Mom didn't know so she had turned on the oven! Your Dad like to never let Mom live that one down, it was the big joke for the longest. Anyway, just wanted to say sorry, and I hate losing everyone. It really hurts. Love to you all. Aunt Mary was one of the kindest, caring and loving lady I have ever met or been honored to be family with! She knew how to make everyone smile and could cook better than anyone else! I loved taking family trips to visit her because we always knew we would receive lots of hugs and kisses! She will be greatly missed and thought of often! She set a beautiful example of loving everyone and I am very proud to have been her niece!! Love to all the family!! Lisa Britton / Dickey

...Mrs. Rhoden was an awesome lady as was Mr. Rhoden... I am 51 now so my earliest memory of her occurred about 46 years ago. ... They once lived on the old Batson Prairie road as did my Uncle Leroy and Aunt Lillie. I was staying the night with my Aunt and Uncle but as it started getting dusk dark I struck out going home (in town) three miles away… at the age of five I was not certain of directions but I found myself being chased by a big-ugly dog and ran to a house… ... one of the kindest ladies with a beautiful smile opened the door… I not only was rescued from a big-ugly dog but this precious lady gave me cookies and milk. ... throughout these years every time I seen those “star shaped cookies with the red jelly in the middle” I thought of that beautiful lady and her kindness… after many cookies and stories I soon forgot all about that dog and not long afterwards there came a knock at the door… it was my Daddy and I was so glad to see him but I never forgot the kindness and gentleness of Mrs. Rhoden. ... God knew what he was doing… if that big-ugly dog hadn’t chased me and I hadn’t ran to the loving home of this precious lady, I may would’ve made it to the highway… perhaps the story would have had a different ending. ... I know I am only one of MANY whose life she has impacted in the little community… To Mrs. Rhoden’s family: you all are in my thoughts and prayers... her legacy continues... thru each of you. Hugs

You'll never forget your mother's face, the sound of her voice, the gentleness of her touch...They let you know you were loved. You'll never forget the stories she told, the traditions she handed down...they let you know who you are. You'll never forget the lessons she taught, the things she stood for...they are her gift and your legacy. You'll never forget and you'll always know that you honor her every day in how you live and who you are. Thoughts and prayers to Carolyn, Kirby, Alton, Darla and their families.
