Larry Dewey Wayne Turner

1950 ∼ 2026

Larry Dewey Wayne Turner, born on May 9, 1950, in Jacksonville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. His journey through life was marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures that made his world meaningful.

Larry's life was defined by tireless labor, beginning in the vast cotton fields, the rows of cabbage, and many farm fields that shaped his early years. He dedicated decades as an 18-wheeler driver for Spindletop Equipment, retiring after many years of service. Despite the demands of his work, Larry always prioritized his loved ones, living fully for his children and grandchildren.

Those who knew Larry remember a man who was well-loved by all, a presence that brought warmth wherever he went. He never met a stranger and approached life with a heart full of love, embodying the spirit of a simple man who found joy in the quiet moments. After a long day’s work, he cherished a cold beer and the calming embrace of nature, finding peace in the everyday beauty that surrounded him.  He found comfort and relaxation in watching NASCAR.

Larry’s legacy is held most tenderly by his grandchildren, who fondly recall the Sunday afternoons spent together: all piled in the car, heading out for ice cream, making memories that would last a lifetime. In his younger years, Larry could often be found fishing with his children in local ponds, sharing laughter and stories along the water’s edge.

A companion who meant the world to Larry was his beloved dog, Sonny Boy, whose unwavering loyalty stood as a testament to the deep love Larry carried in his heart.

He is survived by his sons, Larry Turner, Jr. and wife Rachel, and Jerry Spears and wife Bobbi; his daughters, Missey Turner, Lynette Spears-Duke, and Pamela Turner; his sisters, Michael Lynn Morris and Paula “Aunt Pug” Zambardino and husband Steven. Larry’s loving legacy also lives on through his many grandchildren—Trey Turner and wife Abby, Lindsey Turner and husband Todd, Donald Guillory and wife Maggie, Jennifer Day and husband Jason, Brittany Guillory, Curtis Glaze, Samantha Spears, Jason Spears, Chris Spears, Lisa Ann Turner, David Aldy, and Tessa Aldy—as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Odell Turner; mother, Pauline Burgess Turner; wife, Shirley Jane Turner; son, Weldon Aldy; and brothers, Joe Johnson and Duke Dowden.

His life was a testament to hard work, boundless love, and the profound joy found in the simplest of things. Larry Turner’s memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who loved him, a true hero to his family and a friend to all who were fortunate to know him.

Memorial Services are at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Faith and Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas with Chaplain Stephen Hayes officiating.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come with Me." With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we would not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. I love you so much pawpaw ❤️🕊️

Uncle Larry, you was a GREAT MAN and HARD WORKER. You taught me many things in life. Wish I knew the truth about what happens when we leave this life. I still can't accept death. It's something that I struggle with in life. My whole family means the world to me. We all will miss you and we will see you on the other side. I bet it is nice to be an Alabamian.
