Lanny Jay Harrison

1948 ∼ 2025

Lanny Jay Harrison, affectionately known as "Lil Joe," was born on March 19, 1948, in Orange, Texas. He passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, in Raywood, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family. Joe lived a fulfilling life dedicated to both his career and the many community endeavors he passionately supported throughout his years.

A 1966 graduate of Hull Daisetta, Joe embarked on a lengthy career in the oilfield, retiring as a salesman for Pioneer in 2019. His over-the-top personality and gift for conversation made him a cherished figure in both his professional and personal spheres. He was known for his charitable nature, generously supporting youth and church groups, and being actively involved in various community activities and benefits.

Joe’s interests were diverse; he found joy in playing golf and shooting pool. He remained committed to his community through fundraising efforts at the VFW, participating in BBQ cook-offs, and a member of the Elks Lodge of Liberty and Central Baptist Church of Daisetta, as well as contributing to multiple committees at the TVE.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife Diana Harrison, and their children: Tracy Renee Hill, Jolea Marie Anderson and spouse Brady Lee Hard, Jade Elaine Keith, Kaden Diane Keith, Kendrick Jon Jenkins, Billy Emanuel Vail, John Wilson Vail and wife Crystal, Amanda Lea Whitmire; his brother, Tommy Lynn Harrison and wife Gaye Nell. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his one niece Teresa Camp and husband Shelby, whose lives he enriched with his warmth and humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve Odom Harrison and Rebecca Gaskey Harrison, and his brothers, John Ronald "Cotton" Harrison, and Harold Edwin Canant.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Joe's remarkable life. A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas. This will be followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Leslie Gaines, also at the same location. Interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Texas.

Lanny Jay “Joe” Harrison will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of love, generosity, and jovial spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.

We met at Sam Houston while members of the Sigma Chi fraternity. Joe was a man of his word and a good friend to all. We’ve kept up over the years and his quiet demeanor was always a good change of pace. If I could have said one more thing to his parents I would say “ you all did a good job Joe was a good man.” Joe I know you are comfortable now…Godspeed! All Honor To Your Name Ed Reyna

We met in 1969 and pledged to become members of the Sigma Chi fraternity, at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Always shall remember the various challenges and comradery that took place as pledge brothers. You and I bonded in such brotherhood activities, and 'they' shall be lasting in my memory as such. RIP --all honor to his name, "Lil Joe"....

I am so very sorry for your loss. Joe was a very dear friend and I have thought of him much. He was a wonderful friend when I was growing up and I will never forget him. He kept in touch with me when my brother David was going through his cancer treatment. Joe had a heart of gold.
