Katherine " Kathy" Jane Thornton

Katherine " Kathy" Jane Thornton, 69, of Hull, TX, gained her wings into Heaven on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Memorial Hermann TMC in Houston, TX. Kathy was born on July 4, 1953 to the late Jesse Taylor and Nannie Lee Fregia in Liberty, TX. Kathy was known by many different names, Kathy, Mom, Nanny, Sister, and Kay Kay, just to name a few. She cherished every one of them. When you entered her home, you could count on being fed and enjoying entertaining conversations. She loved her family with all her heart and would fight tooth and nail to protect them. If you looked up Momma Bear in the dictionary, you would see Kathy’s beautiful smiling face. After losing the love of her life, of over 51 years, her world changed. A piece of her was missing but being the strong and resilient woman she was, she continued to live life to the fullest. She will be missed terribly, but knowing that she and Ray are back together, dancing in Heaven, her family is at peace. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Ray Thornton. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Paskel Thornton of Hull, TX; daughters, Kathy Clark and husband Kelvin of Hull, TX, Rita Collins and husband Jeffery of Tarkington, TX; brothers, James " Bubba" Taylor and wife Theresa of Hull, TX, Jesse Taylor and wife Evelyn of Dayton, TX, Roland Taylor and wife Wanda of Baytown, TX; sisters, Shirley Lyles of Livingston, TX, Pam Sheffield and husband John of Conroe, TX, Marilyn Musick of Daisetta, TX, and Sherri Hufford and husband Roger of Daisetta, TX; grandchildren, Courtney Folsom and husband James, Maranda Burks and husband Jason, Tristan Clark, Tray Tyler and wife Jesi, Camron Collins, Hunter Collins and wife Chloe, Cody Thornton and wife Lindsey, Austin Thornton and wife Aranda, Treavor Thornton, Decota Thornton, Andrea Thornton, Cassie Sweeten, Brenham Thornton, Bentley Thornton, and Braycee Thornton; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 2:00 pm at Faith and Family Funeral Chapel with Reverend Justin Morgan and Brother Andy Coots officiating .Interment will follow to Oakdale Cemetery in Daisetta, TX. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be on Friday, November 4, 2022 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Faith and Family Funeral Chapel.

Kat, You know daddy was our rock that held our family together. To make sure we all stayed close, kept in touch, and spent holidays together. When daddy died, your husband took over the daddy duties. Loving us, correcting us, and keeping our family together for holidays and so on. God took them both from all of us but it was YOU who continued the role of being our family rock just like daddy & Ray was. Now God has taken you but just like it is with daddy & Ray we will always have you in our hearts. ❤ I will keep you in my heart, on my mind, and in my memories. I talked to you the day before you were pick up by Life Flight with you telling me to go get eye surgery and when our conversation was over to say good-bye you said, "Ok I love you baby". Just as you did MOST of the times ending our phone conversations. I truly feel you are with Ray, Moma, and Daddy now. I would give anything to be able to continue our sweet conversations, our sibling arguments and disagreements , hearing you say I love baby. I guess because you were 18 months older than me, you thought of me and your younger siblings as one of your babies, just like you considered all your grand and great grandbabies "your babies". The saying is, "you never miss someone until they are gone". Only a few days now and I miss you so much. My heart is torn into a million pieces. I love you so much and will always cherish all the memories. I will always miss you and hold you in my heart. I will always remember that 17 year old boy that married you at the age of 15 and gave up a football scholarship to spend the rest of his life with YOU and that is EXACTLY what he did. I will remember the many times it was just the three of us doing so many things together. So many wonderful times together!! I love you Kat, and I will miss you so so much my pretty sister...my go to recipe woman..my Mexican cornbread maker, (I can feel you this very moment giggling about that) but the list goes on and on. With so many memories you left me of you.. you left me with the regret of ME not being the wonderful woman YOU was. I mean that from my whole heart. And I will always love you. RIP KAT. Pam

This lady was such an awesome woman. From the time I first met her probably 50 years ago She was always the same sweet beautiful person. She never changed. I will miss running into her. My heart is broken for her families loss. There are no words. She loved you all and she knew she was loved by all of you. It's always been Ray and Kathy, a lifetime of true love for the two of them. I know Ray's been waiting for her and as bad as the pain is for family and friends. They are together and smiling on you all. Lots of love and prayers for you all.
