1933 ∼ 2016

Juanita Moore Griffin, 83, of Liberty, passed away December 4, 2016 at Methodist Hospital of Houston to reunite with her Lord and Savior. Visitors are welcome Thursday December 8, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services, Inc located in Batson, Texas. Funeral service will also be held December 8, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Dick Lintelman officiating. Burial to follow at Cooke Cemetery in Liberty TX.

Juanita was born on October 15, 1933 in Liberty, TX to parents Willis Thibodeaux and Ovena Blanchard Thibodeaux. She later married Donald Moore and they resided in Liberty then moving later on to Smith Point, TX. While in Smith Point they operated a shrimp Boat, Miss Nita, for several years. After the loss of Donald, she returned to Liberty and married Henry Lee Griffin.

Never wavering in her Christian faith and always positive no matter what life events came her way, she loved life. She made the most of any and all opportunities offered to her while on this earth. She had an infectious personality and generosity that will be missed by all that knew her. She will be remembered by her smile, laughter, kindness, and nurturing traits. Juanita was a very vibrant individual, keeping herself busy with her many hobbies, such as sewing, painting, traveling, socializing, and entertaining. You name it, she “seized the moment” every chance she had! She loved her numerous family members and friends and would do anything for them. Her love of children within her immediate family and beyond led her to raise and teach those children, based on Proverbs 22:5-7 which states “Train a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart from it”. She taught many life-long skills and lessons to these children that will remain throughout their lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Donald Moore, and 13 siblings.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Lee Griffin and her stepsons; Henry Lee Jr., Randy, and Bruce, her sisters; Anna Fregia and husband C.D., and Caroline Goins Martin and husband Jimmy, her brother; Phill Thibodeaux and wife Pat, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and her extended Smith Point, Texas family.

Juanita was a beautiful person; she shared that beauty in many ways through her art, sewing, and lovely countenance. I only knew her through the Art League, but I will miss her. May God give her family peace and comfort.--Barbara Bliss

My husband and I have two of Juanita's beautiful paintings hanging in our home. We got to know her well when she lived in Smith Point. We are saddened to hear of her passing, but we will always remember her, especially when we look at those special paintings. Donnie and Donna Standley

Juanita loved bling, glitz, whatever you call it and wore it whether the day or hour was appropriate. Now I see it as a reflection of the stars in her crown now that she has left this plain dull earth, which was made much brighter by her presence. I will miss Juanita, as will many. I still miss my Juanita clothes that Hurricane Ike took when he devastated our house at Smith Point, but I know they were originals, just like Juanita, and can't be duplicated. My condolences to Juanita's entire family, and especially to Henry for giving her so much happiness and help in your years together!!

I loved Juanita. She had such infectious laughter that she made everone light up around her. She also was without a doubt the very best gumbo maker. Her closet full of her amazing couture coats and outfits were legendery. I always thought she should have had a showing. Her kindness and caring for all was something we should all attempt to carry on in her memory. Go in pleace, good and faithful servant. I will miss you. Love. Denise
