A Life Remembered

Obituary

Joyce Laverne Clark, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, at Magnolia Healthcare. Born on May 16, 1938, in Liberty, Texas, Joyce’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and a radiant spirit that touched all who knew her.

Joyce was a woman whose heart overflowed with devotion—she loved her family deeply and her faith in Jesus was the very center of her soul. Known for her outgoing nature and warm personality, she was truly a people person, finding joy in gathering with others, sharing laughter, and praising her Lord. Going to church was not just a routine for Joyce; it was a source of strength, comfort, and unshakable hope. Her love for her faith shone brightly through her every action and word.

Her passion for gardening was more than a hobby—it was a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her profound appreciation for life’s simple beauties. Many who tended to their own gardens fondly recall Joyce’s gentle encouragement and her keen eye for growth, tending to both plants and souls alike.

Joyce is survived by her loving son, David Carter, and his wife Barbara; her daughter Cynthia Ouzts and husband JD; her devoted brother Vorice Baucum and his wife Wanda; her sisters Violet Lawrence and Sharon Taylor; and her grandchildren, David Joshua Carter and Jason Ray Carter, who carry forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and an extended family of loving friends who were fortunate to know her generous heart.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton Baucum; mother, Viola Walters Baucum; her beloved husband, Ronald Clark; her brother Roy Frank Cleburn; and her sister Janelle McCann. Though they may no longer walk this earth, their memory lives on through Joyce’s enduring love and the stories they shared.

A visitation to celebrate Joyce’s remarkable life will be held on June 3, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, located on Red Bud in Daisetta, TX. Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the same location with Pastor Leslie Gaines officiating, where family, friends, and all who were touched by her warmth and faith will gather to honor her memory. Joyce will then be laid to rest at Cooke Memorial in Liberty, TX, with burial commencing at 1:30 p.m.

Joyce Laverne Clark’s life was a testament to love, faith, and joy—a bright light whose presence will be dearly missed but forever remembered. Her spirit remains in the hearts she nurtured and in the seeds of kindness she so lovingly sowed throughout her years. May she find eternal peace in the loving arms of her Savior.
