Janis Louise Holmes, 95, of Batson, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Janis was born on February 19, 1929, to the late L.J. (Shorty) and Flora Hill.

Faith played an immense role in Janis’s life as she was a member of First Baptist Church in Batson, Texas. She was raised in Batson, Texas, lived 36 years in Conroe, Texas, retired from Conroe ISD, and moved back to Batson, Texas in 2006. In her life she enjoyed traveling in the RV with her husband, singing and listening to gospel music. Janis embraced life fully and found joy in various interests. She loved going to bluegrass festivals, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Janis loved holidays and cherished them with the Holmes and Hill families as they came together as one. She was an avid Houston Rockets fan. We will forever remember her love for boudin and tamales. She loved God, her family and life with her whole heart and soul. Janis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by parents; husband, Billy Gene Holmes; and great granddaughter, Caringtin Mosley.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Mosley of Batson, Texas; sisters, Marilyn Folkes and husband Frank of Amelia, Texas and Barbara Hashaw of Batson, Texas; grandsons, Brent Mosley and wife LaDonna and Corey Mosley and wife Ashley; great grandchildren, Madison Taylor and husband Cole, McKenzie Mosley and fiancé Kaleb Andrus, Ashton Mosley, Lance Mosley, Annie Mosley, Alise Mosley, Brandon Sanchez, Jordan Sanchez, Gus Cook, Jude Cook, Olen Cook and Justin Cook; great-great granddaughter, Sophia Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews and family.

Graveside services will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas with Pastor Aaron Leger and Brother Bobby Martin officiating.
