James Oliver "Bud" Shirley

1935 ∼ 2017

James Oliver Shirley of Liberty, died Saturday January 14, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. He was 81.

James was born June 8, 1935 in Daisetta, to Bernard Lyle Shirley and Loucile Drake. He had lived in Liberty, most of his life and was a self employed Independent Oilfield Consultant, and a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife LaDell Shirley of Liberty; son, Kenneth Shirley of Denham Springs, LA; and daughter, Karmon Shirley DuBose and husband Jim of Beaumont. Life long friend, Roy Baucum of Liberty, and grandchildren, Madison Zickefoose and Sloane Zickefoose.

I've known James since I was 13 years old. I will always appreciate that the several summers I lived with him and LaDell, he always made me feel welcome. When I wrecked his car, never a word was said. I always thought he was funny, even when LaDell did not. Lots of good memories. I will miss him. I loved him.
