Iva Elsie Stephenson

Iva Elise Stephenson, 67, of Liberty, formerly of Marlin, Texas, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019, at Liberty Healthcare. She was born March 31, 1952, in Marlin, Texas to James and Elsie King.

Iva loved to travel and was fortunate to be able to travel to see most of the United States. She was active in many charitable organizations throughout her life. Her family said one of Iva's hobbies that she endeared was to crosstitch and sew. She loved her family and was known by many people as "mom" and she referred to them as her "adopted kids". Mrs. Iva loved all her family and enjoyed spending quality time with each one of them.

She is preceded in death by her father, James King; and her sister "Bit" Prentiss.

Those left to cherish her memory are her mother, Elsie Presley of Marlin, Texas; husband, Harry Stephenson of Sugarland, Texas; son, Louis Richardson and wife Jennifer of Liberty, Texas; daughters, Toni "Sissy" Richardson of Dayton, Texas, and Brandy Berryhill and husband David of Elkhart, Texas. Iva has 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of loving family and friends.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 6, 2019, at North Main Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas, with Reverend Omar Cantu officiating. A gathering of Mrs. Iva's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at North Main Baptist Church under the direction of Faith & Family Funeral Services. Cremation will follow service.

When I think of cousin Skeeter I always see that beautiful little girl with the blonde, bouncy hair and big bright smile. We had many good times together as children and have kept in touch through the years. She will be missed.
