Henry Weldon Nettles

1923 ∼ 2013

Henry Weldon Nettles was born in Livingston TX on June 20th, 1923. He grew up in Polk County surrounded by a large group of loving cousins, aunts & uncles. He was married for 48 years to his best friend and soul mate Dorothy Merle Wilson. During those years their life redefined the word togetherness and they were sometimes called the Siamese twins, as they were always together at work, play, hunting, fishing, volunteering in their community or holding blood drives. Theirs was a marriage based on love, trust and a deep commitment to their family & friends.

Weldon serviced his country in the United States Navy & World War II.

He was a quiet man, so some people never knew about his great sense of humor. He made each and every one of us kids, grandkids & friends feel special in our own way. And he always took the time to listen and really hear what we had to say.

And on Friday, the 26th of July, 2013, angels came to escort our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and dear friend to his new home in paradise. He was surrounded by his loving family.

We will all miss him dearly, but we know that this is not goodbye, it is simply - 'until we meet again'.

Thank you for coming today to honor, love and remember him with our family.

God bless each and every one of you, and may God's presence be felt here today by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Letha Nettles; sister Leneigh Nettles; aunt, Annie Bell Nettles; step-mother, Irene Nettles.

He is survived by his wife for over 48 years, Dorothy Nettles of Moss Hill; children, Daniel Nettles and wife Terry of La Porte, Linda Hinklin of Silsbee, Debbie Janssen of Moss Hill; grandchildren, Leah Shotwell, Shana Arnold, Janelle Janssen, Heather Breland, Amber Hildebrand, Carrie Huff; great grandchildren, Brittany Shaw, Kelsey Arnold, Tristan Arnold, Preston Arnold, Blake Vest, Kamdem Breland, Brayden Wilson, Morgan Hildebrand, Tyler Hildebrand, Landan Huff, Amelia Huff; great great grandchildren, Lyric Shaw, Lorelai Shaw and Carter Arnold.

His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel on Monday July 29, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A service of remembrance will be held Monday July 29, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at Faith and Family Funeral Services Chapel, officiated by Reverend Don Hinklin.

The world has lost a kind and gentle man. He always had a twinkle in his eye and was so much fun when Linda and I were growing up. There are so many memories of those fun times. We will miss him. Our hearts go out to you, but may cherished memories sustain you in the days ahead. God bless you, Linda and Dorothy. Love, Maudine and Smitty
