Evonne Romere Jackson

1940 ∼ 2026

Evonne Romere Jackson, a beloved homemaker and cherished matriarch, left this world on January 4, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on August 3, 1940, in Sour Lake, Texas, she was a beacon of love and warmth whose spirit touched all who had the good fortune of knowing her.

Evonne is remembered as a loving, caring mother, and grandmother. Her family was her life, and she devoted herself to nurturing and sharing joy with those around her. She is survived by her devoted son, Mike Jackson, along with her cherished grandchildren, Angie Copeland, Leah Jackson, and Sarah Jackson. Her legacy continues to shine through her great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Brendan, Londyn, Lakyn, Eastyn, Jocelynn, John, Kynsley, Jaylyn, and Jasper. She also leaves behind her affectionate nieces, Dana and Stacey, and her nephews, Ricky, and Yancy, who fondly remember the love and laughter she shared with them.

Evonne's life was one of vibrant adventure and cherished memories. In her younger years, she enjoyed the thrill of Roman Riding alongside her twin sister, Lavonne Romere Baize, a partnership that flourished in the joyous embrace of sisterhood. Beyond the stables, she reveled in the beauty of the outdoors, often found enjoying horse trail riding, hunting, and traveling. With her beloved friends, the Horseless Riders, she created unforgettable moments on trail rides aboard four-wheelers, lawnmowers, golf carts, and scooters, embracing the thrill of adventure wherever it led her.

Evonne's kitchen was a sacred space filled with the delicious aromas of home-cooked meals, notably her son Mike’s favorite dishes—fried chicken and cornbread dressing—reminders of her nurturing spirit that produced more than just meals, but sumptuous memories woven into the fabric of family gatherings.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Jackson, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms, and her son, Pat Jackson, who rests in eternal peace. Evonne also mourns the loss of her parents, Sterling Romere and Xelma Millhoun Romere, and her sisters, Barbara Romere Meguess and Lavonne Romere Baize, as well as her nephew, Damon.

Serving as pallbearers are Roger Louviere, Darrell Griffin, Brandon Kerr, Hillary Deshotel, Yancy Meguess, and Rickey Meguess.

The indelible mark Evonne has left on this world will be celebrated during a visitation at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas, on January 8, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Her funeral service will follow on January 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Dale May, also held at the same location, concluding with interment at Jackson Cemetery in Sour Lake, Texas.

As we bid farewell to Evonne Romere Jackson, we remember her not just for the roles she played in life, but for her unwavering love, spirited adventures, and the way she brightened our days—an everlasting legacy of kindness and joy that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Evonne was such an amazing lady. I learned so much from her. Cooking is a very fond memory. Learning from her is something I will treasure. I still remember the day she stood in my kitchen, teaching me how to make a roux and her wonderful Chicken Gumbo. I will have to make some in her honor. I still make many dishes that she taught me when I was her daughter-in-law. Evonne always took care of folks, and she will be truly missed. In loving memory. May God bring peace and comfort to Mike and the whole family during this difficult time.
