I will forever remember a horseback ride with some of the Hughes family. We went into the thicket woods, without thought I wore shorts. I had scratches all over my legs...Doug told Lawrence the last time we saw him and laughed all over again! He will be missed!!!

He got the biggest kick out of my dad saying he could remember two things and forgetting the second one and asked mom what was the other thing he could remember. Doug brought this up everytime. 😂 He was so kind to the West Hardin trail riders letting us camp on his land to many great memories to write down. Praying for this big close family

I’m so sorry for the passing of your beloved husband Lessie and for all his family and way to many friends to count. Being raised in Saratoga everyone knows everyone. My mom and dad were friends with his mom and dad. I can still remember them coming for visits. There’s one thing I remember about Doug that still makes me smile today. I was on a location getting tickets signed and I handed Doug a pen...well it didn’t want to write and all of a sudden he hauled off and threw my pen just as hard as he could out in the reserve pit. Said a few choice words and my chin dropped down to my chest and I said I can’t believe you done that...his response was I can’t believe you handed me a pen that didn’t write. LOL. He gave me a hard time every time he seen me but that was how you knew if Doug Hughes liked you. If he never had anything to say it was probably best you go away. Daneen I know you were the sparkle in his eyes and my heart is sad for you. Nothing better than being Daddy’s girl. Doug was a caring and giving man and will be missed terribly. We’re all just passing through this old world and someday I will possibly hand Doug another pen and it will have ink I assure you. Rest In Peace my friend. You are loved by so many...and I love you too!!!

He always loved playing a joke and most of the time he was good at it. My memories of this man go way back. Loved on my children and grandchildren and I won't forget the way he loved to eat good food and laugh.
