Don Wesley George

1946 ∼ 2019

Don Wesley George, 72, of Dayton, died on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at his residence with his loved ones by his side.

On February 9, 1946, Bro. Don was born in Lufkin, TX to his parents Hulen Carey George and Flora Rachel Grimes, living with his brothers, Cotton and John George, and sisters, Linda and Samantha George.

Bro. Don's father was a teacher by trade causing them to move around, but in everything he pursued, his father was always teaching him, whether he liked it or not. In his spare time, his father taught him how to hunt and fish, which became two of his favorite things to do. In 1964 Bro. Don graduated high school in Robstown, TX and soon after he started at a small filling station where he changed tires. He then had numerous other jobs including helping Mrs. Baird's Bread, delivering dry cleaning, driving 18 wheelers, and finally, working at Gulf, now known as Chevron, as a pipefitter for 25 years until retirement. In 1982 he met Sis. Evelyn at a Whistle Stop, only to find out she would become his one and only, and on March 18, 1982, the two were married. On March 24, 1991, nine years later, Bro. Don received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus' name by Bro. James Coots in Batson, TX, and not long after, in July of 1991 his wife followed. With the Lord put first in their marriage, it made 37 years so pure. Finally, on September 25, 2011, Bro. Don started a long 8-year journey, which ended on the morning of January 19, 2019, when the Lord saw his pain and sorrow and called him home to walk with him.

Bro. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Hulen and Flora George; brother, John Dave George; and sister, Linda George Goode.

Those left to cherish his memory are; wife, Evelyn George of Dayton; step-son, Robert Croft and wife Jennifer of Dayton; daughter, Joy Anders of Dayton; step-daughter, Iris Wedgeworth and husband Jamie of Hallsville, TX; brother, Cotton George and wife Suzanne of Martinsville, TX; sister, Samantha Fuller and husband Mike of Cushing, TX; niece, Jennifer George of Crosby; nephews, John George and wife Stephanie of Crosby, Justin George and wife Jill of Crosby, Brady Ben George of Hardin, Mike Fuller and Clay Fuller, both of Cushing, TX; grandchildren, Lindsey Freels and husband Tyler of Conroe, Noah and Ethan Wedgeworth of Hallsville, Kelsey and Andrew Anders of Dayton, and Brian Ainsworth of Hankamer.

My dear brother Don Wesley George, or Donnybuck as I fondly remember calling you when I was a kid. So many memories, and so many years have gone by since then. Your tender heart of gold is what I remember the most. One special memory I have is how you worked so hard to buy me a bicycle when I was small. Your tender heart and walk with God has never gone without notice. I have no doubt that you are at rest and in peace. Your soul is in heaven with some of the most special people that have gone before you; Mama and Daddy. I know there is peace in my heart that you are with them, and many more in Heaven. My goal for myself, and our family is to continue life's journey in our Christian faith so we may also join you, and our loved ones in the Kingdom of God. I love you dear Donnybuck. Your baby sister, Samantha
