Delbert Eugene Welch

1954 ∼ 2025

Delbert Eugene Welch, fondly known as Gene, passed away in Batson, Texas on July 5, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on April 10, 1954, in Lawton, Oklahoma, Gene led a life characterized by his unwavering dedication and hands-on skills, particularly as a skilled mechanic in the oil field. He possessed an extraordinary talent for fixing engines and built many projects with his hands, heart, and time, leaving a legacy of creativity and resilience.

Gene was admired for his honest work ethic and was known as a good brother, loving husband, father, grandfather, Pawpaw, and friend. His warm spirit embraced those around him, reflecting a steady and dependable nature that made him a cherished figure in the lives of many. Though he had the heart of an old hippy and loved deeply, he wasn’t without his stern moments, which were always fair and came from a place of love.

Gene had a profound appreciation for rock music and classic songs, often finding joy in cookouts with family and creating memories that would last a lifetime. He thrived during the holidays, cherishing every moment he spent with his loved ones, which contributed to his vibrant personality.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Linda Renee Welch; their sons, Richard Eugene Welch, Joshua Ray Welch, and wife Jennifer Rose; daughter, Jaime Chrystal Noel, and husband Adam; God son, JP Ellis. Additionally, Gene is mourned by his brothers, Raymond L Welch and wife Denise, Luther Welch and wife Katrina, and Erric Welch; his sister, Teresa Newton. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Dustin Eugene Welch, David Michael Welch, Stormi Rae' Welch, Joshua Ray Welch Jr., Austin Alan Douglas, Trevor Dean Douglas, and AJ Noel; his great-grandchildren Elivia Reese Lyles and Dawson Eugene Welch.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Alvin Welch, and Alma Leona Nix; a brother, Jessie Richard Welch; two sisters, Nancy Ellen Welch, and Leona Yvonne Welch; and his daughter-in-law, Tammy Marie Welch.

The family will receive friends and family for visitation at Faith & Family Funeral Services, located at 40847 Texas 105, Batson, TX, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Tolbert Hudspeth, also at Faith & Family Funeral Services. Cremation Services to be followed under the direction of Faith and Family Funeral Services.

Gene's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, as a man who gave love freely and worked tirelessly throughout his life. His legacy of strength, reliability, and passion will forever inspire his family and friends.
