Mr. Parker served the Liberty County area schools as Superintendent, coach, educator, and mentor for 49 years serving the young minds and people of the county. He loved his family and spending time with them. Some of his favorite things were to gather together with our family across the street at Christmas to cook, eat, and play games. He always enjoyed a good game of dominos with his coffee and pie. He loved attending his grandkid's activities while encouraging them along the way. He also had a passion for attending different events for Hardin and Garrison. Both communities were dear to his heart. At the end of the day, he would relax with his wife Catherine watching old westerns.

Coach Parker was my high school basketball coach at Orangefield. I didn't realize he was only 10 years older than me. It must have been his first job. I think of him often as he was such a positive influence in our lives. God bless you all.

I knew Bob for years prior to our working relationship at DISD. He had many great characteristics such as a calm demeanor, kindness, and honesty. Most of all, he was genuine. My thoughts are with the family as it’s a great loss.

My family has suffered a great loss this week with the passing of my Uncle Bob. He was a truly great man. Although I haven’t seen him as frequently in my adult years as I did in my childhood, we had more meaningful conversations. When he would visit my mom in Georgetown, we’d share stories about our careers in education over a cheeseburger at Dale’s Essenhaus. He also liked to tease me about our sports rivalry, him being an Aggie and myself a Longhorn. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him, and I am deeply saddened by his loss.

We attended school with Bob in our class from first grade until our HS graduation in 1963. He was “best man” in our wedding in 1964. That BEST MAN describes him perfectly! Never have I heard him say a bad or unkind word about another person, nor have I ever heard an unkind word about Bob! He has always been a favorite among his classmates. He and I were the youngest classmates so we took on “taking care of the rest of the OLD FOLKS”. He is now hearing, “WELL DONE MY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT”! He will be missed greatly and our class reunions will never be the same! Heaven is so much sweeter now!

Bob Parker gave me my first job in education. He was a shining example of a servant heart leader who understood the importance of relationships. No task was ever too big or too small for him. He made everyone around him feel valued and appreciated. He was a truly remarkable man. Bob will be missed by all who were fortunate to know him.

Coach Parker was so much like a father figure to all of us that he coached and taught! I never met a nicer man in my life! We could be up by 20 or down by 20 and he never lost his cool and never raised his voice 🏀! So many stories to reflect on.....may you Rest In Peace Coach! Keeping the family in my thoughts and prayers! ❤️

I have many sweet memories of the kindness of Mr. Parker. One of my favorites is of the day he spent trying to teach me how to do a layup before basketball tryouts in jr high. He was so patient and saw potential in everyone! I will always remember his sweet smile and kind voice anytime I was at his house or anytime he saw me. He was a great man!
