Bessie Lucille Warren

Bessie Lucille Warren, aged 105 years and 11 months, passed peacefully Saturday, January 31st at her home in Hull with numerous family and friends present. Bessie was born March 9, 1920 to William Earl Bailey and Ira Savannah Rhodes. She was the 4th of 7 children born to the marriage, all of whom reached at least 90 years of age. Interestingly, Bessie is the 2nd centurion in the last 3 generations of her family. Bessie grew up in Fuqua, Village Mills and Votaw.

She married ‘Archie’ Warren on June 6, 1937. That marriage lasted 54 years until his death in 1991. It produced 3 children. Don and Delores have passed on in the last few years. The youngest is David, who has served as his mother’s primary caregiver since 2001 at their home in Hull. Delores and David’s spouses have also passed away, leaving Don’s wife, Anna Lou, of Hull, as the sole surviving in-law. Bessie devoted her life to her family as a life long homemaker. Bessie and Archie lived and raised their family in Liberty and Hardin counties before moving to Shaw, Mississippi and then to Epps, Louisiana before retiring to Woodville.

The family recognizes Janie Stinnett of Daisetta for her many years of loyal friendship and service as a caregiver and confidant to Bessie.

Bessie was grandmother to 8, Dennis of Hull, Darrel, deceased, Lyle and sister Letha of Gladewater, Douglas and wife Jeannie of Chaparral, New Mexico, Julie and husband Malcolm of Hull, Beth of Montgomery, Alabama and Carla of Nashville, Tennessee. Bessie is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Magnolia Hill Cemetery in Segno, Texas. Graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Carlton Bailey officiating.

Aunt Bessie was always kind and great cook. I will always remember the memories made at Votaw, where we all met and time didn’t move so fast. She was always full of life that her 105 years show. An end of an era and shall be greatly missed.
