Barbara Ann Hashaw

1938 ∼ 2025

Barbara Ann Hashaw, lovingly known as “Nana” to her grand- and great-grandchildren, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on her birthday, June 1, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Barbara was born on June 1, 1938 in Batson, Texas, the precocious youngest daughter of Jay and Flora Hill. She married Felix Enos (F.E.) Hashaw on October 26, 1956 and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and a deep commitment to faith and family. They had 4 children: Micheal, Randal, Dianna, and James (Jimmy). Barbara worked in the West Hardin School library loving on kids for over 30 years before she retired! She and F.E. were married 51 years before he passed away in 2007.

Barbara was a sweet, patient soul with just enough sass and mischief to make her interesting! She loved playing games, solving puzzles and word searches, and getting back rubs. Her humor and good nature made her beloved by anyone who ever met her. She absolutely loved being a Mom and Nana and doted on her 15 grand- and 31 great-grandchildren!

Barbara is survived by her two sons, Micheal Hashaw (wife Annette) and Randal Hashaw (wife Linda), her daughter Dianna Martin (husband Bobby), and her sister Marilyn Folks (husband Frank), as well as those 15 grands- and 31 great-grandchildren. They are her legacy, and she could not have been any prouder of them.

She is preceded in death and welcomed home by her parents Jay and Flora Hill, beloved husband Felix Enos Hashaw, son Jimmy Hashaw, sister Janis Holmes (husband Billy), and great-grandsons Kai Williams and Ian Hashaw.

The public are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, June 04, 2025, between 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Batson, Texas. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, June 05, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Batson with Pastor Bobby Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas.

Honoring Barbara as pallbearers are Derek Hashaw, Chance Hashaw, Terence Hashaw, Matthew Hashaw, Dustin Hashaw, and Heath Martin.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Batson youth building remodeling fund.

Aunt Barbara always had a twinkle in her eye, it seems. The love and fellowship between her and her sisters(Janis Holmes and Marilyn Folkes) was precious to see. I’m glad I saw her one last time in November last year. Cky and I send our love and prayers to all of my cousins and their families. 😘❤️💐

Mrs Hashaw was a kind hearted, wonderful woman. My memories of her gentle spirit in the library, are sweet. She handled all us rowdy preteens with kind words and patience that had to have come from The Lord. I know she was a treasure for her family and I’m sorry for all of your loss.

Diane, Mike, Randal and Family, I'm so sorry for the loss of your precious Mom & Nana. I have so many fond memories of her from West Hardin and outside of school also. I remember her being such a sweet loving person to many. But what I remember most about her is how much she loved her kids; you all were her world! I also remember her being just a tad spunky! I'm sure she passed that trait on to a few of you! There's nothing at all wrong with that! I loved that about her. What a wonderful legacy she has left for you, her grandchildren, and her great grandchildren. Many thoughts and prayers for all of you as you navigate life without her. She will be dearly missed. Much Love to all of you!

Such a sweet woman, who was always smiling. Her joy and devotion to her family was infectious. Her offspring are her legacy of a life well lived.
