Willie Mae 'Maw Maw' Barnes, of Batson, died on Monday, October 9, 2017, at her residence with her family by her side. She was 79.
A service of remembrance will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 3:00 P.M. at New Life Church of Batson with Pastor Bill Campbell officiating. Cremation to follow.
Serving as pallbearers are Bob Guedry, Jacob Griffea, Jerime Johnson, Roger Roark, Brent Mosely, and LaRue Jones.
There will be a gathering of family and friends also on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, from 2:00 P.M. until time of service at New Life Church. A native of Monticello, AR she had lived in Batson many years and had worked as a cook for Key Truck Stop in Channelview, TX.
She was a faithful member of New Life Church of Batson, where she was involved in women's sewing ministries and the volunteer food pantry. She enjoyed delivering newspapers throughout the community to those who were shut-ins. She was affectionately known as 'Maw Maw'.
She is preceded in death by husband, Floyd Blakeley, parents, U.L. and Martha Hopper Tucker, nephews; David Ward, Kevin Ward, and Terry Butts, nieces; Jessica McKinsey, and Jerri Foye Butts.
Those left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Judy Carroll and companion Tommy Diehl,of Batson, sons; Rufus Henson of Monticello, AR and Vernon Barnes of Welch, VA. Brothers, Reno Tucker of Chatsworth, GA and David Tucker of Monticello AR. Sisters, Linnette Wallace of Springhill LA Mamie Perrine of Houston, and Hazel Medders of Eden TX.
Granddaughters; Lacey Guedry and husband Bubba of Batson, Feleshia Wakefield of Batson, Tammy Adams and husband Freddy of Batson, Ashley and Amanda Barnes both of Baltimore, MD, and Jessica Henson of Monticello AR. Grandsons; Dennis Welton and wife Inez of Batson, Toby Welton of Batson, Jake Griffea, Joshua Henson, and Jaden Henson all of Monticello, AR. Great grandchildren: 11.
