Theodore Ernest “Ted” Oberg, Jr, 78, of Livingston, Texas passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Beaumont, Texas on June 20, 1945, to the late Theodore Ernest Oberg, Sr, and Lois Weatherford.
Ted was known for his remarkable skill as a carpenter. He will be fondly remembered as a man of pride and dignity. Ted proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. His warmth and welcoming soul made him an exceptional man and to know him was to love him. Ted’s life was a testament to his faith, love, and the power of family. Ted was a devoted loving family man who lived daily for his family. He found eternal peace and joy in loving his Lord Jesus Christ and making him the center of his life. An avid animal lover, he found much comfort in feeding birds and squirrels as he would watch them and found peace in the beauty of nature. Ted’s fur babies were the king and queen of his palace. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by parents; brother, Vic Oberg; and sister-in-law, Sybil Oberg.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Mary Oberg of Livingston, Texas; sons, Gene Cotten and wife Cheryl of Batson, Texas, David Cotten of Batson, Texas, and Tony Cotten and wife Jennifer of Freemont, California; daughter, Patty Cotten of Livingston, Texas; brother, James Oberg and wife Susan of The Woodlands, Texas; sister, Diane Lynas and husband Paul of Rockwall, Texas; Grandchildren, Corey Cotten, Mary Bowman, John Cotten, Patricia Cotten, Morgan Cotten, Sadie Cotten, and Mason Cotten; great-grandchildren, Kiley Bowman and Karson Bowman; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Faith and Family Funeral Services, Batson, Texas. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 pm officiated by Pastor Tolbert Hudspeth and Pastor Don Goodwin.
