Ruby Tubbs Jr., 74, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024. Born on April 24, 1950, in Starks, Louisiana, he was a beloved figure known for his sweet, caring nature and infectious sense of humor.
Ruby was often seen riding his bicycle, exploring the charming streets of his hometown, where he earned the affectionate nickname "The Mayor of Starks." Although he never quite understood the title, it filled him with a sense of pride, reflecting the warmth and connection he shared with those around him. His passion for life extended to his love of music, particularly rock and roll, with Johnny B. Goode being his favorite song. He also embraced social interactions, happily flirting with girls throughout his life, always bringing joy and laughter to those who knew him.
At the heart of Ruby's life was his deep affection for dogs. His beloved furry companion, Molly, held a special place in his heart, symbolizing his gentle and caring spirit.
Ruby is preceded in death by parents, Ruby C. Tubbs and Hazel Laster; sisters, Ann Stains, Elaine Tubbs; brothers, Carry Ray Tubbs, and Cheese Tubbs; cousin, Kenneth Paige; sister-in-laws, Red Tubbs, Cathy Tubbs; brother-in-law, Willie Stains. He is survived by his brothers, Clifton Tubbs, and Woody Tubbs (Jean), Rodney Tubbs; cousin, Vicki Paige; sister-in-law Karen Tubbs; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service to honor Ruby's life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Moss Hill Cemetery in Liberty, Texas, beginning at 1:00 PM. His family and friends invite all who were touched by his kindness and humor to join them in celebrating his remarkable life.
