Rose Marie Ellison

Rose Marie (Mount) Ellison, 77, of Pine Ridge, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2021. Rose was born on June 12, 1944, to Hubert Brent and Marie Evelyn (Wright) Mount in Henderson, Texas.

She grew up in Pine Ridge and began attending Pine Ridge Baptist Church at about ten years of age. She graduated from Hardin-Jefferson High School in 1962. Following her graduation, she started her first job at Magic Mark, a home building company in Beaumont. Shortly thereafter, she felt called to use her gifts for a better good and began serving as secretary at Pine Ridge Baptist Church. She was faithfully devoted to this position for almost fifty-three years and retired just last year.

She also worked with many ministries at the church, her most recent being Keenagers, a group which she held very close. Her sweet spirit touched the hearts of everyone she encountered at Pine Ridge Baptist Church. She is fondly remembered for her smiling face, kind words, and gentle encouragement. She quietly supported countless programs and individuals in many ways, wanting no recognition for herself. Rose lived her life to build others up and point them towards Christ. Her life reflected Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they might see your good works and glorify God in Heaven.” She truly had a servant’s heart.

In the late 1950’s she met the love of her life, Taylor. They were married on April 30, 1965. Their marriage was blessed with three loving children. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Norma Miller; brothers, Brent Mount, Tom Mount, Jerry Mount, and Don Mount. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Lewis Taylor Ellison of Pine Ridge; son David Ellison and wife LaRae of Lovington, New Mexico; daughters Lisa Watts and husband Terry of Fred, and Taysha Ellison of Pine Ridge; grandchildren Allyssa Ivey and husband Brett and Dylan Watts and fiancée Heather Miller; great-grandchildren Sunny Grace Ivey, Jonas Lane Ivey, and Remi Hope Watts. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Buck Kirkendall and sisters-in-law Marilyn Ellison, Addie Lehmann, and Sondra Mount as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and countless wonderful friends.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Pine Ridge Baptist Church in Sour Lake, Tx at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Drifty Cates, Reverend Ernest Brown, and Reverend Kenneth Eells officiating. Interment to follow at Pine Ridge Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be on Friday, October 29, 2021, from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
