Raymond Lamoine Hooks, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, departed this world on October 21, 2024, leaving behind a legacy rich with love and devotion. Born on January 13, 1932, in Baytown, Texas, Raymond's journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit and steadfast commitment to family and community. Raymond and his wife Janie moved to Arizona in 1961 where they raised their family. He was not only a family man but also a proud veteran who served honorably in the United States Army. His time in service imbued him with a sense of duty and integrity that resonated throughout his life. Following his military tenure, Raymond embarked on a successful career in sales, lending his expertise to various companies, notably The Sweet Milk Company and Carnation Milk Company, where his talents flourished. Raymond's educational pursuits led him to earn a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, a milestone he celebrated with enthusiasm—his love for the Aggies was palpable and defined much of his pride in his academic achievements. His passions extended beyond work and education; he reveled in the simple pleasures of life. Traveling brought him joy, as did the soothing pastime of gardening and the excitement of golf. His rural roots manifested in his love for raising cattle, an interest that connected him to his heritage and the land he cherished. His deep affection for his family was the cornerstone of his existence. He is survived by his loving son, Randy Hooks and his wife Kelly of Mesa, Arizona; his devoted daughter, Amy Kobrick and her husband Robert of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and a constellation of adoring grandchildren: Megan Kobrick, Riley Hooks and his wife Katie, Cole Hooks and his wife Hailey. The light of his life also included his great-grandchildren, Carson, Hudson, Ryland, and Addison Hooks, who brought him immense joy and pride. Raymond was an active member of the Center Baptist Church of Thicket, where he found community and camaraderie, enriching both his spiritual journey and those around him. He possessed a vibrant personality, filled with warmth that enveloped his loved ones like a comforting embrace. In his passing, he joins his beloved parents Homer Lamar Hooks and Sabra Marcontell Hooks, loving wife Vivian Jane "Janie" Hooks; as well as his brother Louis Hooks and sister Susie Vandervoort, all of whom carved out a space in his heart, guiding him throughout his life. Visitation for Raymond will be held on October 26, 2024, at Faith & Family Funeral Services in Batson, Texas, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, leading into the Funeral Service at noon with Pastor Patrick Burks officiating. The final farewell comes with a burial at Felps Cemetery in Thicket, Texas, where he will be laid to rest, surrounded by the land he loved. As we remember Raymond Lamoine Hooks, we honor a life filled with devotion, laughter, and a ceaseless love for those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of kindness, faith, and family will flourish through the generations he nurtured and loved.
