Melissa Dale Fields

Melissa Dale Fields, a beacon of love and laughter, departed this world on November 1, 2024, leaving behind a legacy as rich and flavorful as her celebrated cooking. Born on November 14, 1973, in the picturesque town of Rogers, Arkansas, Melissa quickly became known for her spirited nature and the warmth she exuded to everyone lucky enough to cross her path.

To her beloved granddaughter, Mi'Angel, she was simply "Granny," a title embraced warmly by a host of friends who adored her like family—their cherished Granny, Auntie, and Sis. Her devotion to her family was boundless, with her son, Isaiah Stevenson, and daughter, Quanisha Fields, sharing in the love that filled her life and home, particularly in Baytown, Texas. She took immense pride in nurturing her family's bonds, making each gathering a memory to treasure.

Melissa’s personality was unapologetically vibrant—brave, outspoken, and endlessly humorous. She had an uncanny ability to light up a room, her laughter resonating in the hearts of those around her. Known for her fierce loyalty to friends and family, she was the type of person who would stand firm in support of loved ones, her spirit echoing in the hearts of all who knew her. A master in the kitchen, her culinary skills became legendary; she whipped up dishes that were not just meals, but heartfelt expressions of love, drawing her family and friends around the table, where connections grew deeper with every bite.

Though her life was met with the trials that come from losing loved ones—the heart-wrenching absence of her father, Arlis Wayne Fields, her mother, Karen Elaine Houk, her grandmother, Rosalie Hayes, her brother, Michael David Fields, and her sister, Melanie Williams—Melissa carried their memories with her. They shaped her indomitable spirit and inspired her to embrace every fleeting moment with gratitude and love.

Honoring Melissa as pallbearers are Stephen Morgan, Jr., Shane Morgan, Isaiah Stevenson, Dennis Anthony, Ulises Ruiz, and Winston Venner.  Honorary pallbearer is Jesus Ramirez.

In a world that often felt chaotic, Melissa remained a steadfast source of joy for those fortunate enough to be embraced by her warmth. As she journeys into the next realm, we celebrate a woman who loved fiercely, lit up life with laughter, and wove an intricate tapestry of connection through her cooking, humor, and untiring loyalty. Her spirit and memory will forever dwell in the hearts of her son, her daughter, her sister Miranda Morgan and her husband Stephen, her granddaughter, and numerous loving friends and family. Here’s to Granny Melissa, whose legacy of love will be eternally cherished.
