Mary 'Nanny' Elizabeth Moye Scearce, 97, of Rye, Texas, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013 in Houston, Texas.
She was born August 21, 1916 in Thicket, Texas the daughter of the late Walter and Leona Moye. She worked for Constable Reagan Baker in Jefferson County, owned her own employment agency in Houston, Texas, drove a school bus for Houston I.S.D., she was a beautician, owning her own shop and working at several others. Mary also opened a ceramic business and later, she taught oil painting at her home. She loved to fish, garden, can vegetables and jellies. Mary was a member of Hardin United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Pythian Sisters.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur E. 'Red' Scearce; brother, Horace Vann Moye; sister, Georgia Moye Moulder; grandsons, Jerry Ben Ellison and Billy Wayne Collins; great granddaughter, Kenberly Michelle Tullar.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, brother, Wayne Moye of Sour Lake, Texas; son, Billy D. Collins and wife Wanda of Jasper, Texas; daughters, Bobbie J. Collins of Rye, Texas and Tammy L. Alexander and husband Nicky of Stafford, Texas. In addition, she leaves six grandchildren, Sherry Beasley and husband Terry, Terry Langford and husband Fuzz, Gary Ellison, Marion Williams and husband Chuck, Brian Alexander and wife Alicia, Breann Field and husband Dusty; eleven great grandchildren, Wendy, Shauna, Corky, Ben, Cody, Jessie, Christopher, Dustin, Skyler, Caden, and Bode; ten great-great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jake, Samijo, Austin, Jasmine, Kaitlyn, Jerry Ben, Kimber, Kaitlyn M., and Amelia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members, also her very good friend, Cornell Metcalf and care-givers, Dottie Kellie and Reba Hooper.
Her family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday October 31. 2013. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (noon) Friday, November 1, 2013 at Faith and Family Funeral Services, officiated by Reverend Gideon Watson. Interment will be at Felps Cemetery in Thicket, Texas.
Serving as pallbearers are Corky Langford, Ben Ellison, Brian Alexander, Walter Moye, Roger Moye and Mike Moye. Honorary pallbearer is Cornell Metcalf.
