Laura Ann Carrico,95, a beloved member of our community and cherished family matriarch, passed away on December 16, 2024, in Daisetta, Texas. Born on September 10, 1929, in Liberty, Texas, Laura lived a life vibrant with love, resilience, and a passion for nurturing both her family and her culinary craft.
As the proud owner of a restaurant, Laura showcased her talent as an excellent cook, leaving a lasting legacy through her homemade biscuits and renowned tea cakes. Her kitchen was a haven of warmth and delicious aromas, where memories were made and traditions flourished. She poured her heart into teaching her grandchildren how to craft these timeless recipes, ensuring that her culinary lineage would continue through them.
Laura’s personality could light up any room. She was loving and caring, often described as sweet but with a delightful sassy streak. Her straightforward nature, paired with a touch of stubbornness, endeared her to those who knew and loved her. A great grandmother to many, she embraced her role with an open heart, pouring her wisdom and love into the next generation.
Her hobbies included crocheting and sewing during her younger years, where she created beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic spirit. A weekly visit to the beauty shop became a cherished ritual, where she would enjoy getting her hair and nails done, always leaving with a smile. Laura had a special fondness for roses, delighting in their vibrant colors, and she took joy in raising birds that filled her home with song and companionship.
Laura is survived by her loving children, Darnell Shaw (Ray), Garland Taylor, and Brenda Fondon; stepson, Randy Carrico (Pam); her brother, Vivian Hilton; her adored grandchildren, Angela Costlow, Melissa Varnon, Chad Nugent, Ashlee Dees, Zack Taylor, Belinda Nugent and Trint Taylor; along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. They will carry forward the lessons she taught them, drawing inspiration from her strength and love.
She joins together again with her dearly departed husband, Phil Carrico; her son, Jimmy Taylor; her parents, James Coy Abel, and Adaline Fregia; her brothers, Bob Abel, Edward Abel, and Junior Abel; and her grandson, Larry Erwin Jr. They wait for her with open arms, creating a joyful reunion filled with love.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a viewing set for Monday, December 23, 2024, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Faith and Family Funeral Service, Batson, TX. A graveside service will follow at Oak Dale Cemetery at 1:00 PM officiated by Pastor Kevin Basham.
Laura Ann Carrico's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and culinary delights will be treasured eternally by her family and friends.
