Larry Wayne Bean, 82, a cherished father, devoted friend, and indomitable spirit, departed this world on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Born on July 2, 1942, Larry lived a life rich in service, love, and community, leaving behind a legacy that will resonate through the lives he touched.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Larry honorably served in Vietnam, bravely facing the trials of war that would accompany him long after his service. His unwavering pride for his country never faltered, even amidst the haunting memories that shadowed his return. He became an active member of the Liberty VFW Post 5621, where he rendered his leadership as both Commander and Quarter Master with dignity and honor.
In his professional capacity, Larry's industriousness found its expression as an offshore foreman with Occidental Petroleum, a role he embraced with the dedication and tenacity that characterized his life. Following his retirement, he continued to contribute his expertise, taking on the position of dispatcher at Basil Oilfield Services.
But it was not solely in his professional roles that Larry made his mark; his true essence shone brightly in the heart of the community. With a generous spirit and an unwavering commitment to giving back, Larry dedicated his time to various church and school activities, always ready to lend a helping hand. Whether he was cooking hamburgers in the band concession stand during his daughters’ school days or passionately cheering for athletes with his signature “whooo hooo!,” his enthusiasm was infectious and uplifting. He understood the power of encouragement, and those who witnessed his support felt truly seen and valued.
Through the passage of years, Larry faced profound losses that weighed heavily on his heart. Yet, his resilience remained steadfast, never allowing sorrow to eclipse his capacity for love. He carried a gentle reminder for those around him to appreciate the simple yet profound words, “I love you” and “see you soon,” affirming connections that transcended the trials of life. In his final weeks, even when faced with adversity, his concern for others remained paramount, and he sought to ensure the well-being of all he cherished.
Larry Wayne Bean’s departure leaves an undeniable void—an empty space in the lives of those fortunate enough to have known him. Nevertheless, his legacy endures, inspiring all to strive for compassion, camaraderie, and unwavering support for one another. As he journeys onward, we hold dear the memories he crafted and the love he shared, knowing that his spirit will forever illuminate our paths.
