With warm hearts, we remember Kenneth Eugene Fregia SR., lovingly known as Kenny, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. Born on September 5, 1945, to E.B. and Nellie Fregia, Kenny was the eldest of three brothers, a role he embraced with strength and determination. He dedicated many years to the oil field, where his tireless work ethic truly shined. At just 18, he met his soulmate, Marsha, and together they created a beautiful life filled with love, raising two wonderful sons, Kenny Jr. and Tony.
Kenny was a vibrant spirit whose zest for life was truly infectious. He had a passion for riding motorcycles and three-wheelers. He enjoyed tinkering with his roadster and was known for his love of making sausage. In the kitchen, he enjoyed in whipping up his famous French fries and jambalaya, always adding just a pinch more salt. His weekends were often spent at his camp, where he enjoyed the simple joys of nature, a cold beer, and the laughter of family around him.
Beneath his tough exterior, Kenny had a heart of gold that those closest to him knew so well. His grandchildren loved their time with him, affectionately calling him “Pa.” They were showered with love and learned invaluable skills from him—whether it was how to shoot a gun, change a tire, or whip up a meal in the kitchen. He was a constant cheerleader at their football games, always ready with an encouraging word, and he welcomed every family visit with open arms and a warm smile.
Kenny is preceded in death by his parents, E.B. and Nellie Fregia, his dear aunt Virgie Childers of Louisville, Kentucky. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter through his devoted wife of 60 years, Marsha Fregia, his brothers Paul (Rita) Fregia, and Raymond (Myrtle) Fregia. His sons, Kenny Jr. (Donna) Fregia, and Tony (Jana) Fregia, along with his grandchildren—Kade (Ashtyn) Fregia, Allie (Austin) Laird, Kristen (Patrick) Colleps, Hannah (Waylon) Hoffeld, Kyle and Kody Fregia—will carry his memory in their hearts forever, along with his great-grandchildren, Easton, Connor and Owen Laird, Kenli and Callie Jo Fregia, Amelia Jones, and Lenora Colleps.
Kenny is remembered by many, including countless nieces and nephews who were touched by his warmth. Pallbearers will include Kenny Fregia, Tony Fregia, Kade Fregia, Kyle Fregia, Kody Fregia, Austin Laird, Easton Laird, Waylon Hoffeld, Raymond Fregia, and Patrick Colleps. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Simmons, Wayne Fregia, Bryan Fregia, Zach Simmons, Connor Laird, and Owen Laird, who will carry forward his spirit in their lives.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 1:00-2:00pm at Faith and Family Funeral Services, Batson, Texas. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm officiated by Pastor Paul Fregia. Interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery, Batson, Texas.
