Kathryn Maxine Abraham died Saturday, July 28, 2012, in Burlington, KS. She was 77. Maxine, as she was known by her friends or 'Mackie' as she was called by her family, was born the daughter of George Curtis Barrow and Kathryn Margaret Blackwell on April 14, 1935, in Hankamer,TX, at the family home where she was born and raised. The oldest of seven children, she helped with her younger brothers and sisters and worked some before graduating from Anahuac High School.
Soon thereafter, she met and married James N. Abraham, Sr. of Hull, TX. The couple soon started a family with two daughters, Patty Jean and Kathy Ann Abraham, in Daisetta, TX, before finally settling in Hull in a much needed larger home with the new addition to the family of a son, James Jr., and daughter Vicky Lynn. The couple lived there happily for over 50 years.
Besides running a home, Maxine helped run the family business. She and James ran the grocery store in Hull for almost 20 years. Though it was hard work and long hours, they made many life-long friends and had some of the best times of their lives down those isles.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, James, daughter, Patty Jean Fitts, and two sisters Marilyn 'Sissy' and Linda. She is survived by her son James N. Abraham, Jr., and his wife Evelyn; two daughters, Kathy Jamar and her husband Anthony; Vicky Lynn Serl and her husband Todd; two grandsons, Curtis L. Fitts and his wife Kathrin and Dakota J. Abraham. She is survived by her brothers George Curtis 'Buddy' Barrow and wife Barbara , Alan Barrow and wife Bobbie, David Barrow and wife Pat and her sister Carol 'Sue' Bradley and husband John. She is also survived by her sister in-laws Joycelyn Rogers and Dorothy Besch and brother-in-law Joe Rogers in addition to many nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing for family and friends on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at the Central Baptist Church in Daisetta, Texas. At her request, the service will be held at the Central Baptist Church in Daisetta, Texas on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 10:00am.
