Johnie Frances Houghton, 83 of Saratoga, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021, at HCA Healthcare Hospital, Southeast. Johnie was born in Slaton, Texas, and lived in the West Texas area most of her young life. She met the love of her life in Morton, Texas, and married him in 1955. She moved to Baytown, Texas in the early ’60s and made her home with her husband, Jack. She worked several years in retail before becoming the co-owner and operator of the Super Pak store. She lived in Saratoga for 36 years. She was loyal to the community in Saratoga whom she served for many years.

Mrs. Johnie is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Marie Shelton, her husband of 61 years, Jack Houghton, son Mitchell Houghton as well as three sisters, Martha Leake, Margie Peterson, and Dorris Cashion, and one brother, Jack Shelton.

She is survived by her sister Lucile Smith of Lubbock, daughter Vickie Tschappatt and husband Jeff of LaPorte, and son Teryl Houghton and wife Cheryl of Baytown. Her Grandchildren are Kevin, Derrick, Andrea, Jennifer, Holly, Casey, Abbey, Cheryl, and Shannon. She has fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of loving friends.

A service of remembrance will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. with Pastor Harold Abney officiating, interment will follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson. A gathering of her family and friends will also be on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m.

Honoring Mrs. Houghton as pallbearers will be Kevin Lawrence, Derrick Lawrence, Jeremy Manley, Dylan Towery, Jacob Kelly, Zachary Kelly.
