John David Mick Sr.

70, of Liberty, Texas died on Thursday October 29, 2015 at Kingwood Medical Center. A visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church of Liberty, on Sunday November 1, 2015, starting at 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. A service of remembrance will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday November 2, 2015 also Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Robert Pitts officiating. Interment to follow at Fairlawn cemetery in Liberty.

John David Mick was born in Virginia, to Curtis William Mick and Sadie Mae Mick. John moved
from Virginia, to Liberty, Texas in 1975 where he met his wife Susie Mick of 36 years and then took on the challenge of raising his 4 kids Donald, Tammy, Roger and Michael as well as took on Susie's 3 children George, Bobby and Angel. John and Susie was married on May 17, 1977.

John adopted Susie's 3 children as his own in 1978. Susie and John had a son John David Mick, Jr. in 1978 and that made a total of 8 Mick children. Throughout the kids school years the kids were referred to as the Mick kids kind of like the Brady bunch except they was the Mick bunch.

John's hobbies were rebuilding antique cars and building his own trucks. John would work all day then would come home and work on vehicles until dark and on the weekends. John was also a great carpenter, he would buy cheap houses and gut them out and rebuild them to accommodate such a large family. He also enjoyed going on road trips to Virginia and Missouri to visit family as often as he could.

John started working for Bobby Smalley at Smalley's Welding In 1975 when he moved to Texas. He worked with Bobby Smalley for numerous of years at several companies as a heavy equipment operator. John then went to work for David Chandler and worked for him for numerous years until he could not work any longer. John worked with Bobby Smalley and David Chandler from the time he moved to Texas until he could no longer work and they remained best friends throughout the years. John could dig a needle away from a pipe and never touch the pipe.

John is survived by 8 children, George and Sheryl Mick, Bobby and Jamie Mick, Donald and Kim Mick, Roger and Sonya Mick, Michael Mick, John David Mick, Jr., Tammy and Doug Smith, Angel and Larry Welch., 1 sister, Virginia Clutter., 1 brother, June and Delphi Mick. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. John is preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda Sue Mick., mother, Sadie Mae Mick., father, Curtis William Mick., 3 brothers, Bobby Mick, Curtis Mick and Harold Mick., 3 sisters, Sylvia Chapell, Shirley Roto and Linda Allen., 1 grandson, Steven Paul Norcross, Jr., and 1 bird/son: Sunny the love of his life.

John was dedicated to his work and family.
