Jerry Neely

69, of Sweeny, TX, died on Sunday February 1,2016 at his residence. He was born August 31, 1946 in Springtown, TX, to John Luther Neely Sr. and Bessie Mae Nation Neely.

He was a mechanic and truck driver for many years and was a member of New Shores ( Old Ocean) Baptist Church. As a child he was baptized at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Springtown, Texas.

Those that preceded him in death are his parents, John and Bessie Mae Neely. Brothers, James Edward Neely, Herbert Vinson Neely, John Luther Neely Jr, and Charles Richard Neely and Clarence Oval. Sisters, Mary Lou, Blanch Marie, and Dove Azlee. Also preceded in death by Baby Hillard, and grandchildren Chad and Brittany Smith who passed away in 1988.

Survivors are wife, Phyllis Ann Neely of Sweeny, TX. Daughters, Diana Sue Cantu and husband Omar of Liberty, Lisa Marie Smith of Sweeny, TX. Sister, Wanetta May of Ft. Worth, TX.

Grandsons are Lance Austin Cantu and wife Dana Michon of Norfolk VA, Michael Dylan Cantu and wife Tabitha Ashley of Liberty and Joshua Taylor Smith of Sweeny TX and great-grandson, Malachi Edward Cantu of Norfolk, VA. and 49 nieces and nephews.
