James Allen Taylor, 69, of Saratoga, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Liberty, Texas on July 23, 1954, to the late Willie Taylor and Dorothy Jackson.
James got hooked on hunting and fishing at an early age and believed that every grandkid needed to learn the skills of hunting and fishing. He was an electrician by trade but was an avid fisherman and hunter that could catch a fish out of a dry pond and track a deer better than most dogs. His family always held a special place in James’s heart, especially his grandbabies and great grandbabies. If you knew James, you knew he was known as the “Great White” for his white beard. He was a man’s man, a stern no-nonsense type of guy, that found his comfort zone in fishing.
He is preceded in death by parents; and great-grandson, Kutter Creel.
He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Jean Taylor; son, William Travis Taylor, and wife Britney; daughter, Kari Nelson; step-son, Brian Myers & wife Shay; brother, William Harold Taylor and wife Lynda; sister, Frances Triplett and husband Warner; grandchildren, Nick Creel and wife Josie, Garett Creel and Kendall, Trevor Creel and Cheyenne Myers; great-grandchildren, Kope Creel, Braydee Creel, Whitley Creel, Gatlin Gray and Mateo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving the family as pallbearers are Calvin Loftin, Wayde Spears, Tim Overstreet, Neal Singletary, Louis Williams, Randall Fregia, Keith Jeans and D.D. Kelley. Honorary pallbearers are Nick Creel, Garett Creel, and Trevor Creel.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm at Faith and Family Funeral Services, Batson Texas. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Bill Campbell. Interment to follow at Felps Cemetery, Thicket, Texas.
