James Creel, 72, of Thicket, passed away Wednesday January 15, 2014 at the Silsbee Convalescent Center. He was a great outdoorsman, he loved to hunt. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 34 years until his retirement. He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden. He was a good ol' country boy who will be missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Ella Mae Creel; son-in-law, Chip Langham; brother-in-law, James Felts.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Norma Jo Creel; children, Gayla Kirkland and husband Robert of Votaw, Kathy Langham of Kountze, James 'Timmy' Creel of Thicket and Wesley Creel and wife Thresa of Thicket; siblings, John Creel and wife Marie of Rye, Barbara Nutt and husband Leo of Cleveland and Violet Felts of Cleveland; grandchildren, Lane Kirkland, Amanda Kirkland, Nikki Langham, Wesley Langham, Adam Creel, Nicholas Creel, Garrett Creel, Trevor Creel and Darren Creel; and numerous great grandchildren.
His family will receive friends at Faith and Family Funeral Services Friday January 17, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A service of remembrance is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday January 18, 2014 at Faith and Family Funeral Services. Interment will follow at Felps Cemetery in Thicket.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Johnson, Robert Dale Taylor, Roger Dean Moore, Randy Kelley, Adam Creel, Ricky Godfrey, Mike Nutt and Scotty Felts. Mr. Creel's grandchildren are named as honorary pallbearers.
