Imogene Moor Herford passed from this life on February 9, 2018, at her home in Sour Lake surrounded by her family. She was 90.
A graveside service will be held at Guedry Cemetery in Batson, Texas at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 12, 2018, with Dr. Duane Kelley, Reverend Bill Fabriguze, and Reverend Ken Ellzey officiating.
Imogene was born November 30, 1927, to Lucille and Pierce G.(Babe) Harbour. She was raised in the small farming community of Hankamer where she thrived in the love of extended family members and friends. After graduating from Anahuac High School, she attended Sam Houston State College in Huntsville. There she met and married the love of her life, Benny Herford. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She cherished the role of being a homemaker which was reflected in cooking delicious meals, keeping an immaculate house and always putting family members above herself visiting with close family and friends, listening to Cajun music, appreciating the beauty of nature and collecting lovely antiques were some of the favorite things she enjoyed doing. Her delightful sense of humor remained constant to the very end of her life. She was a member of Sour Lake Baptist Church and treasured her Bykota Sunday School friendships.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bert Harbour. Sister Wilie Mae Barrow and grandson Dustin Herford. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 69 years Benny, her son Jay Herford and wife Skyla of Sour Lake, her daughter Belinda King and husband Don of Longview, Texas. Grandchildren Cody Herford of Sour Lake, Ashley King of Euless, Texas Greg King and wife Kristin of Edmond, Oklahoma and great-grandsons Braden and Ryan King of Edmond Oklahoma. The family wishes to thank her incredibly devoted caregiver Barbara Rocquemore of Sour Lake for the excellent attention she provided the last 5 years of her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Kindred Hospice, 8050 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, Texas 77708 for their supportive care during the last weeks of her life.
