Gordon Milton Rountree,81, of Batson, Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas surrounded by family. He was born on December 30, 1942, to the late William Ben Rountree and Seawillow Cross.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, William Ben Rountree and Seawillow Cross; brothers, Buddy Rountree and Vernon Rountree; sisters, Benetta Mettlin and Jolynn Rountree; and great-grandchild, Eleora Mauboules.
Gordon served his country with honor in the Army during the Vietnam War, receiving prestigious medals for his exceptional service. His commitment to his military duties reflected his character - loyal, honest, and passionate about everything he pursued.
Gordon's unwavering commitment to excellence shone brightly throughout his career as a plant supervisor. His dedication and hard work were not only evident in his professional endeavors but also in every aspect of his life. His kindness generosity, and honesty touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Gordon was a true family man. He cherished his role as a husband and father, understanding the importance of being a good listener and imparting valuable life lessons to his grandchildren. His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds; they were indeed his shadows and the light of his life. His legacy as a teacher and leader will be forever cherished by those whose lives he touched.
In addition to excelling in his career and military service, Gordon found joy in hobbies like traveling, hunting, fishing, and mastering the art of BBQ - with his brisket being renowned among family and friends. His dry sense of humor always added a touch of lightness to gatherings with loved ones.
One of Gordon's proudest accomplishments was being a Mason for 40 years. The values of brotherhood and service that Masonry instilled in him were evident in every aspect of his life.
Gordon will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his loving wife Vera Louise Rountree; son, Kenneth Mauboules (Schnee); daughters, Rosetta Nivens (Mark), Myra Holcomb (Ronny), Tania Steele ( Scott); grandchildren, Amanda Beckman (Beck), Andy Mauboules (Darlene), Keith Mauboules (Courtney), John Glenn Harrington (Sarah), Justin Harrington (Amanda); great-grandchildren Lillith Mauboules, Neriah Mauboules, Weston Harrington, Eliana Mauboules, Aiden Harrington; Walker Harrington; as well as one baby girl on the way.
