Gertie Nugent, 89, of Batson, died on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at her residence with her family by her side.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. at Batson Prairie Baptist Church with Reverend Bill Campbell and Altus Chaplain Robert Wenner officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Perry 'Bubba' Powell, Brian Blackwell, Naymon Walters Jr., Bob Guedry, Harvey Taylor and Michael Cotten.
Honorary Pallbearers are Archie Croom, John Shaw, Terrell Benoit and Ross Jordan.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, October 27, 2017, at Batson Prairie Baptist Church from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
Gertie was born on August 17, 1928, in Batson, Texas to her parents Lemon Fregia and Julie Fregia. She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Batson. She enjoyed keeping house, sewing, listening to her music and attending church. She was a loving wife, sister, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Cecil 'Colonel' Nugent., son, Cecil 'Little Cecil' Nugent., granddaughter, Bobbie Joe Nugent., brothers, James Fregia, Pedo Fregia, Bud Fregia and Jack Croom., sisters, Lillian Fregia and Lilly Youngblood., mother, Julie Fregia., father, Lemon Fregia., her aunt Eva Croom who also raised her and a brother-in-law, Alem Nugent.
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Ann Powell and husband Preston, son, Harold Nugent and wife Joyce, granddaughters, Amy Blackwell and husband Brian, Delanie Walters and husband Naymon Jr., Regina Moorman and husband John and Christi Martin and husband Nelton. Grandson, Perry 'Bubba' Powell and wife Wendy. Grandchildren, Hayden Powell, Cienna Powell, Cody Walters, Caroline Moorman, John Ryder Moorman, Laura Moorman, Cheyenne Martin, Tyler Martin and a great-grandchild, Dakota Gader.
