Elmer Frances ' Slim' Hudgins 83 of Votaw, died on Tuesday February 21, 2017 at his residence with his loving wife and family by his side.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Saratoga, with Reverend Frank Aragon and great nephew Cole Vanya officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Groves cemetery in Livingston.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday February 24, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Saratoga.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeffery Slone, Justin Slone, Mitchell Vanya, Walter Nugent, Sonny Laird, Joey Triola, Tom Richards and Price Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Stewart and Ricky Fancher.
Slim was born April 8, 1933 in Nacodoches, to Walter Hudgins and Beatrice Wedgeworth Hudgins. He had lived in Votaw, most of his life and had worked as a tool pusher for Big ' 6' Drilling and was a member of First Baptist Church of Saratoga.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Walterine Fancher, Jane Norman, Margie Star, Clara Mittelman, Louise Hall and brothers, Joe Allen Hudgins, Alfred Hudgins, and Albert Hudgins.
Survivors are his loving wife of 60 years Bessie Burnett Hudgins of Votaw; daughter, Pamela Sue Hudgins of Porter; brother, Frank Hudgins of Palestine, and sister, Barbara Coggin of San Antonio. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and a host of loving friends whom he loved very much. Slim will be missed very much by all who knew and cared for him.
