Corine Thorson, a beloved figure in her community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 09, 2024, at the age of 96 in Mont Belvieu, Texas. Born on September 30, 1928, in Hardin, Texas, Corine was known for her nurturing spirit and unwavering dedication to her family. Corine's life was a testament to kindness, creativity, and unwavering strength.
In her early years, Corine blossomed as a beautician, proudly running her own salon from her home. It was a vibrant space where laughter and beauty mingled, reflecting her passion for making others feel special. However, the role she cherished most was that of a homemaker and mother. Corine dedicated herself to her family, nurturing her children with love and care, sewing their clothes that would be worn with pride and creating a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter and memories.
Corine's personality radiated warmth and affection. She was a caring and loving individual whose greatest joy came from her grandchildren. Her face would light up with delight whenever they visited, their laughter resonating in her heart as she enjoyed precious moments with them. She was truly the heartbeat of her family, always ready with a story, a smile, or a comforting embrace.
Beyond her devotion to family, Corine had a flair for crafts. She spent countless hours in her garden, tending to her plants, and lovingly caring for her farm animals. Whether she was canning the season’s harvest or baking her famous angel food cake, Corine infused her creations with love and care. Corine is preceded in death by her late husband Andrew Thorson Jr.; parents, Horace Martin Slagle, and Jewel Dean Woods; siblings, Echols Slagle, Opal Nelson, and Katherine Corley. She is survived by her children, Joann Zeller, Ruby Duhon, Michael Thorson and wife Debbie, Kenneth Wayne Thorson, and wife Linda; sister, Alice Barnett; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Serving the family as pallbearers are Stan Hill, Josh Thorson, Andy Thorson, Jason LePage, James Beaman, and Albert Thomas. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Lamberth, Bates Hobbs, Greg Hobbs, Daniel Payne, and Johnny Lambert.
A visitation to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Faith and Family Funeral Services, Batson, Texas. Funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Aaron Leger. Interment to follow at Guedry Cemetery in Batson.
Though Corine Thorson has left this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who lovingly call her mother, grandmother, and friend.
