Leon Sullivan, 76, of Hull, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 22, 2017, after battling Glioblastoma Multiforme, a very aggressive form of brain cancer.
A celebration of Douglas Leon Sullivan's life will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith & Family Funeral Services, Inc in Batson, Texas and will be officiated by Brother Bill Fabriguze. Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Faith & Family.
Leon was born in Liberty, Texas and spent the early part of his childhood in San Augustine. His family moved to Hull, where he attended school, and later raised his own family.
He worked at Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Beaumont for almost 25 years. Following the closure of Bethlehem's Beaumont shipyard, he attended Lamar University and received an Associate's Degree in Process Engineering. He then went to work as a Process Operator for Exxon Mobil in Beaumont, from which he retired.
Leon is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Jasper Sullivan and Alice L. Penrod Sullivan, and his older brother, Earl Sullivan. He is survived by his wife, Diane Sullivan, his children; Wayde Sullivan and wife Sherry of Montgomery, Texas, Mike Sullivan and wife Dalonna of Cedar Park, Texas, Christy Hardt and husband Mitch of Sour Lake, Texas, and Jody Cowart and wife Laurie of LaBelle, Texas, ten grandchildren; Leslie Sullivan, Cole Sullivan, Kase Sullivan, Riley Radford, Kyle Sullivan, Reid Sullivan, Mackenzie Hardt, Cameron Hardt, Nathan Cowart, and Meagan Cowart; one great grandchild; Blake Olivia Holt, brothers; Richard Sullivan and wife Amy of Carthage, Texas, Wayne Sullivan and wife Linda of Hull, Texas, sisters; Dorothy Kolb of Winnie, Texas, Alyne Perry of Willis, Texas, and Sharon Sullivan of Hull, Texas.
His life revolved around his faith and around his family and close friends. He and his wife, Diane, recently began attending Calvary Baptist Church in Beaumont, where they made many new and wonderful friends.
