Delores Jewel Roubieu

Delores Jewel Roubieu, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, was born on May 20, 1935, in Saratoga, Texas. She graced this world with her presence until August 27, 2024, when she peacefully departed at Harbor Hospice, surrounded by love and memories that would linger in the hearts of all who knew her.

Delores was a pioneering spirit, having dedicated her career to social work at the local hospital, where her compassion and unwavering dedication left a lasting impact on the community. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, ensuring that they felt heard and valued. Her words resonated deeply; when she spoke, it was not just the content of her voice but the strength of her character that commanded attention. Delores was known to stand her ground, and those affirmations were a testament to her resilience and the love she had for her family.

More than just a professional, Delores relished the roles she played in her family life. She earned the affectionate title of "Queen," enjoying moments in the spotlight, be it through family celebrations or while offering her culinary critiques that became a hallmark of family gatherings. She delighted in cooking, passing down her skills and love for the kitchen to her children, ensuring that her legacy would be tasted from generation to generation.

Delores thrived during family cookouts, where laughter and the aroma of delicious food filled the air. She was especially fond of Mexican food, fried shrimp, and her passion for birthdays, crawfish boils, and card games created countless cherished memories with her loved ones. A true sports mom, she fervently supported her favorite team, the Houston Texans, embodying the spirit of love and loyalty to both her family and her chosen teams.

The joys of nature brought Delores happiness, especially her fondness for birds and her beloved dog, Fluff, who brought a sparkle to her days. She loved to fish—an activity that matched her love for both peace and excitement, indulging in the simple pleasures that life offered.

Delores is survived by her loving boyfriend, Melvin Sexton Jr.; her devoted sons, Curtis Paul Roubieu III and wife Lorna, and Otis Eugene Roubieu and Becky Roubieu; her daughter, Vicki Roubieu-Martino; and her sister-in-law, LaJuan Martin. She leaves behind an expansive lineage of love, including 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends who were blessed to share in her life.

Though Delores has left this earthly realm, the light she shared remains forever etched in the hearts of her family and friends. She joins her beloved father, Otis William Martin; mother, Gloria Stevens Martin; and her brothers, Kenneth Martin, Val Martin, and Eugene Martin, in eternal peace.
