Debra Lee Kornegay, 58, of Vidor, TX passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, Tx. Mrs. Kornegay was born May 11, 1963, to the late Douglas Ray Duff and Peggy Jean Freeman in Liberty, TX. She was a waitress at the Red Wagon Cafe in Vidor. Debbie never met a stranger. she loved everyone and everyone loved her. She had an infectious smile that lit up a room and could make anyone smile. She loved her family, friends, customers, and co-workers and did not mind keeping them in line. She was known to her customers and co-workers as "Big Mama. She loved to cook, play bingo, and watch PBR, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Her grandbabies were her world. She was what they would say "The Best Mawmaw Ever". She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Kornegay is preceded in death by her husband; Andrew Lee Kornegay Jr.; her parents; and her aunt, Mary Lee Walker.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, James Lee Kornegay of Batson, Tx; daughters, Amy Lee Rubin, and husband, Travis of Beaumont, Tx, Peggy Marie Craig of Lumberton, TX and Sandra Elizabeth Stanley and husband, Gary of Vidor, TX; sisters, Vicky Ray Hardin and husband Trey of Livingston, TX, Michelle Fontenot and husband Lloyd of Raywood, TX, Andrea Coronis of Daisetta, TX, and Sandra McDaniel and husband Scott of Moss Hill, TX; grandchildren, Morgan, Alli, Auston, Taleesha, AvaMarisa, Mason, Alex, Rosie, Jacob, Lillie, and Matthew; great-grandchildren, Isaiah; best friend, Jimmie Jo; and a host of loving family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021, at 5:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Chapel. Honoring Mrs. Kornegay as honorary pallbearers will be Randy "Bubba" Tanner, Michael Vacha, Gary Stanley, Travis Rubin, James Kornegay, Johnny Downs, William Kevin "Lil Bubba" Vacha, Percy Flanigan, and Jimmie Livingston.
